Well, the last time i updated everyone we had just won our elementary debut!! <3
since then, we have been quietly working away, doing tonnes of hacking, regular lessons and keeping things ticking
Bank holiday monday we hacked over to a beautiful facility about 10 mins away to have a play cross country! Lola absolutely loved it and flew everything first time except the largest arrowhead and that was entirely my fault!! we had a whale of a time
we have been enjoying the scenery <3 love this time of year!
then... onto friday!
Lola made her novice Area Festival Debut!! we went with the aim to complete the test and collect our plaque - both of which we achieved and much more!
she warmed up beautifully!! though, being this time of year, she has gotten rather hairy, so i think i over cooked her a bit as we went into the test and i struggled to keep her in front of me entirely, but she was really sweet, just broke after the second medium canter as i over half halted *sigh*, the mediums werent what she can do and the walk went nowhere really, and the final halt was a mess! but, we did it!! next time we will be better my lovely instructor came to help us, and i apologised for doing the test so badly - but he pointed out this is the first big championship she has done and she was just perfectly behaved on all accounts <3 and that he was proud of us whatever happened -- which was a massive thing!!
imagine my surprise, to score 65.2 in a low scoring class - finishing 8th overall in our class - meaning we were into our first dressage prize giving <3 <3 i will admit to shedding a few tears in the lap of honour ha
I honestly couldnt wish for more - its easy to think that if i had done 10 mins less in the warm up, how much different the scores could have been - but hindsight is wonderful isnt it! Almost five years to the day of us having our accident, resulting in me deciding that i would never be able to ride her and she had a lengthy process of re backing before anyone could ride her.... <3
Pics by the lovely nikicb who has given me permission to share!! <3
all ready and smart to go!
