As above really complete pointless post but can't take anymore and need to rant, I've got two horses that I've been struggling to pay for the past six or more months for after being made redundant last year I had to take a much lower paid job, I also have to work an evening job to make ends meet so other than putting horses in and out I don't have any time to do anything as by the weekend I'm exhausted and I often have to work weekends too, I'm trying to sell one of my horses with little success and tbh I'm thinking of trying to sell the other one too, but I don't think she will be easy to sell either as she is pretty quirky and prob best suited as a broodmare the other one is unbroken (purely due to lack of time) and isn't selling, they are both in fine condition I've managed to keep them fed but my livery is really behind and tbh I don't know how much longer I can keep affording hay/food etc they haven't had there feet done since before Xmas! I feel dreadful about it I have booked in to have feet done on Friday but I honestly don't know how I will afford it, I have borrowed money from who I can but bills are mounting, I'm seriously considering signing them over to RSPCA or some other type of charity as I'm really starting to resent them, at present I'm in the work toilet having a good old cry, I've tried getting new jobs but there isn't much around and I'm so time limited I don't have much time to look! Sorry for long and pointless post but i don't know where to turn!

Oh bless you, your having quite a rough time of it arn't you and you need some practical help through a bad patch.

Sadly I can't do anything though I wish I could, but hopefuly as they are not a bad bunch on here;)that someone can?:)

Sorry to hear that Sam.

I suggest selling them very honestly as companion/project/broodmares. Be very upfront with all their quirks etc, there are lots of people out there who like characters.

Hope things work out

Sam - pm me and I can put you in touch with a wonderful Sussex rescue centre that I am sure would help you out.
Hugs to you - I am so sorry for you.
Honestly PM me and I will do what I can to help.

xx

I'm sorry for your situation :(

If your mare is as quirky as you say she is? is it wise to be selling as a broodmare?

If you really need to sell them quick and you think the younger Horse has a chance of selling. You could take him to an auction. Many people go there looking for a cheap project to back and sell or back and keep. Though the auction may not be the best place for selling your mare.

Good luck

Oh and heres some ideas to make some extra money.

Online surveys (PM me if you want the websites, but I get paid around £10 month)
Sell items on EBay (keep an eye out for free listing weekends as you won't have to pay for the adverts)
Boot sale

Aw poor you! Sounds very hard and lonely.
It's not a great time of year and I totally sympathise with you as up youmust be knackered and it can seem like there is no end in sight, especially if you aren't getting much enjoyment out of them just now. Things can turn around, there is always opportunity in chaos, you may get a lucky break soon.
In the meantime are they unshod and grass livery? That would save money and time. Soon the grass will grow a little and you could save a bit on feed and hay. Any chance of a sharer to help out with the chore side and give you a little more time to rest?
Good luck, hopefully someone will buy the youngster soon.

I've more or less sold all I can but I'm going to a tack sale at the weeken to try and shift a bit more, she is quirky to be ridden purely due to being in the wrong hands but is a dream to handle, she has had a foal before who is now 7 or 8 i think who recently won regionals at novice level with 83% so i think she should be fine to breed from, she is well bred as well, they are on pretty cheap livery already its £25 a week each which is rubber matted stables which saves on bedding with year round turn out and olympic floodlit sandschool, I cant afford to move and I need the facilities in order to sell youngster and also if i wanted to get a sharer my mare isnt good to hack out so needs to sandschool in order to ride, my youngster is unshod but i've tried taking shoes of my girl and her feet are so bad she goes lame :(I did have a sharer but she had to give up which was a bit of a problem! So need to find another one trouble is i just dont really think I want horses I've struggled for so long!

Can you put them on grass livery so you don't have to worry about bedding and the time it takes to muck out?

They are on rubber matting so not having to pay for bedding luckily don't know what I would be doing if I did! Thanks for those who have pm'd me I have tried to reply but I'm on my phone so not sure if they have worked or not?!

Hi Sam...

I keep popping back to this thread to see if you have any updates... I have no practical advice and live too far away to be any help but you sound so thoroughly tired and desperate I just hope you're able to sort something positive out...

:)

Could you not put them out on loan? Or perhaps a grass livery?

I wanted some extra cash so I started doing online surveys, you dont get much put every penny helps! And also mystery shopping, its market force search it in google, you can get allot of money out of this! :)

Cheer up aswell :) what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger. Xxx
