It's in The Mirror, and probably a lot of other papers but that was the first that came up.

These devil dogs and their owners all live next door to somebody yet nobody makes any complaints.Too late when somebody has been killed - it wont be the last.

Given that we've relatively recently had a spate of young children killed by their parents/responsible adults while the young children's wider families made numerous documented attempts to get help for the children via the authorities I don't think anyone can assume that other people haven't reported the dog and its owners. The blame for this lies solely with the owners for bringing the dog into the household. And maybe not all of them wanted the dog but were overruled.

American bully - it's confirmed, something needs to be done to legislate this breed, I know, I know it should be breed not deed but it's the sheer power of these dogs that's scary and the fact they are not very easy to read...and so so many are bred for status and the aggressive look by backyard breeders in it for the money.

An American Bully XL (how do they breed them in 4 sizes?!) looks very Pitbullesque. Very surprised they are considered a family dog - pure muscle and I would assume rather dodgy breeding lines. Look like fighting dogs to me. How horrendous for the couple.

its the owners of these dogs who attack and kill or maim people and other dogs, not the breed. unfortunately the bull breeds can inflict much more serious injuries than dogs with different jaw shapes. so many of these types of dogs are owned by idiots who would have trouble controlling a labrador or a spaniel . its very frightening

I agree it's people who create the circumstances in which this happens but you can't legislate for stupidity. What can you do apart from ban the breed?

What is it about the jaw shapes of the bullies that make them more serious?

It's the muscle around the jaws and the fact that these dogs were originally bred to relentlessly hang onto bulls despite being kicked and thrown, bred to relentlessly fight, bred to be game.

I see there's no collies on the fatal dog attack list. Collies do bite, mine had bitten my children in the past, but they don't maul people to death. Interesting how the word "bull" features highly on that list.

Oh right okay, I was aware that they are bred to be lock-jaw'ed and not let go but I thought perhaps there's also something about the shape of it that I hadn't read :)
