Not one rider has worn a hairnet yet, bit too late for me to fly over and stand at the gate ready to staple them to their heads as the come past!
Ugh think it is very scruffy indeed!
Although they don't look as bad as the first rider who was wearing all the colours under the sun and her hair was coming out of her hat at every angle!

It's ironic how that fences have been lowered for the women, who (in general) are better riders than the men!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I hope they did it because of yesterday, not because they assume women are less competent!

I'm pleased to see that the women are doing a much better job - and the horses are obviously appreciating not being gobbed in the mouth quite so much, and showing it with some much better jumping.

many of these women look perfectly competent - and I have to say, I'm a little surprised by the amount of people professing on here that they could do better.

on another forum a lady based in china has confirmed that these are all ex-racers - many trained specially for this event, others are from chinese riding schools. They are not as experienced perhaps as horses used at other modern pentathlons - but the women are showing that they are in the main a pretty honest bunch in my opinion.

This is much better than yesterday between laughing at the terrible riders and crying for the horses. On one round a man came off badly horse nearly rolled on him, the way the horse fell made me scream, kicked the rider in head making him bleed, and then he remounted! He only couldn't continue as blood was running down his face blurring his veiw. OMG. He was a terrible terrible rider whose reins were like washing lines.

What I don't get is this .... do they not practice???? If it is part of their sport surely they need to train. The commentator said they said 'riders accept their fate in this discipline'??? WTF.

Crowd were laughing so much and i did at first until i saw the horses getting hurt and didn't laugh anymore.

I'm really surprised - I thought most of the MP types got into it through Pony Club Tet, I thought their riding would be better.

The GB women 'mainly' are from pony club however a few have had to learn to ride for their sport. However, I believe Katy and Heather are both originally from pony club...I know them both and are both good riders and have done themselves proud with their rides!

heather fell is (remember she was doing tetrathlon champs same year as I was!) but katy livingston is not, I read she took up riding aged 17 with the aim of doing modern pentathlon.

heather's riding looked better than katys to me, but katy's horse jumped better, simply. They both did a good job though - sensible, rhythmical riding.

i don't think most of them are bad at all, especially as they've only ridden these for 25 mins. very glad i didn't watch the men's competition though, sounds as if it was awful.
must admit, i'd rather they all had to use nurtural or dr cook's bitless bridles, sounds as if the men in partic were socking them in the teeth a lot.

this looks wrong through its back, it's changing legs behind all the time. shouldn't be jumping.

But, see my post above, the women have got the better horses from yesterday. The 6 most useless ones were withdrawn so not really such a fair comparison. I felt really sorry for the guy(s) yesterday who drew the grey that couldn't jump to save its life.

This is much much better than the men. Love that claire is lauging at the 'circus act' she called that last rider. My mum walked in yesterday hearing all the lauging and asked if I was watching it's a knockout.

They've all done well so far today. Even the weaker ones have remained reasonably quiet. I've not felt quite as sorry for the horses. That bay is lame though, if it comes in again its a bl**dy joke.

I think they should be shot I was shouting all the way around that round I am utterly discusted that they put the rider back on a horse that is clearly hopping lame, horse welfare should overrule the damn rules!

Must be someone to complain too. I said earlier yesterday the men fell and had some horrible horse falls and they got back on after horse falls!!! No vet came to check the horses. I was disgusted. Terrible when they are trying to make sport as safe as possible.

This wouldnt be allowed to stand in 2012, there are far too many people and organisations in this country.

plus there's always us lot!!

if i was there i would have run on, pushed over all the fences, slapped a few riders and rescued the horses!!
