Anyway - the ribbon is down...for hunting it should obv be up but I am wibbling about how to do it without ruining my hat

I don't suppose I can get away with leaving it down can I? If not, do I use glue? Help!

Just tuck it up and pop a stitch in it. You may get away with wearing it ribbons down (ie no-one saying anything), but it would appear very rude to do it.

Hovis - it is a riding hat, made to measure and just gorgeous

xkatyx - pop a stitch in it where? I won't bother stitching it up and under the back of the hat and I am loathe to stitch it up as there is nothing to stitch it TO.

HBII - Ohh yes, probably

I want a nice hat box too, will leave things out for J to find LOL!

an expensive hunting cap, a little like a beagler but they come in different colours.

It is a made to measure beagler - not a little like, it is deffo a beagler!

oooh, i've always wanted a Patey, Weezy, pls can i be really nosey and ask what it cost, roughly? PM me if you don't want to put it on here!
i thought it was ribbons down for hunting, up for everything else? i always just fold them under as i slide it down the back of my head, after a while they stay there. or iron them very gently, maybe?!

Hi Weezy

Just tuck it inside as you squish your hat on - it soon gets used to being there and is no longer a problem. Then you don't have to worry about doing any stitching.

I was excited just like you when I got one!

Best wishes

Seamour

For my show hat, I folded the ribbon up inside the hat and put a single stitch through the ribbon into the lining.
I would love a Patey, but am too scared to ride without a strap on my hat!

But that will make it look ugly

TBh if I bought a Patey and they sent it with no lining (you say there's nothing inside to stitch the bow into) then I'd be sending it back.....

I would put the teeniest tiniest velcro dot on the ribbon, and the other piece in the hat, and use that to tuck it up out of the way. Actually, I am a trifle surprised that given the cost of a made-to-measure Patey, they don't include something like that as standard - not everyone who buys a beagler is Hunt staff.

ribbons down when you're hunting, up the rest of the time, i was always told.

[/ QUOTE ]

Only Hunt Staff & Masters are allowed to have ribbons down for correct ettiquette

As other say you can either put a tiny stich in or let it go up under your hat.

Also there is no way one of these will come off without a strap. Is hard enough trying to pull one off with your hands!

No, I didn't say there was no lining, there is lovely lining - I meant to stitch it up onto the back of the hat there is no excess material - if you get what I mean!

What made you go for green ?

[/ QUOTE ]

Ummm to be a bit different

I find it hard to conform to the norm TBH, and the green does go rather amazingly with my bright red hair

It also looks stunning with my ratcatcher. I know I will prob get a few raised eyebrows, but hey, I love it, so that is the main thing!
