This looks so much fun 😁 I need to find somewhere to do this where I can borrow a horse as well!
I'm the same. I'm going to mention it to my RS manager next time I see her, to see if they could arrange a clinic or something. There is a local venue that does it occasionally but it's for folks who have their own horses.

Fabulous report , well done 👏

I thought I'd booked in for the march clinic but it was today ! When I got the email Monday with start time i had to quickly rearrange a short break holiday I'd booked lol
We had a great time , to me it wasn't quite like TREC even though it had some similar obstacles , the riding of them was much more precise than TREC I thought
The lady that took our clinic also did classical dressage and she was very good with tips for our general riding as well
Even though it didn't seem like we were doing a lot TP was mentally shattered afterwards , so was I lol
Lots to take in and lots to practice at home
There was also a photographer there so I'll post pic if there's any good ones 😉
That sounds really great!
Yes, it's a lot more 'real' dressage than it looks like, I find.

You two look fabulous, I bet you could go into battle with that horse!

Ah I also went to a a clinic this weekend. This was my second try and I am loving it.
My boy has previously focussed on dressage but am wanting to take a bit of a step back from going round in circles. He has taken to it really well, especially using the Vara - although we are struggling a bit with the rope gate so will need to set one up at home to practice.
I did also go to a Trec clinic a couple of weeks ago, but didn't find it very challenging so going to focus on WE.
Would love to go and try some competitions but currently aren't any in my area ☹️
Pics from Saturday, (have purchased them and have permission to post.)

I think it looks fun and challenging. I’m hoping it comes to Ireland.

I'm sure I've heard of clinics over there.

For anyone wanting to dabble in Trec, or even get trained to a higher level, Evie O'Keefe (Evie Trec on FB) has a great reputation and travels all over doing clinics.

Oooh this might have tempted me to have a go, I'll have to look and see what clinics there are in the area. If I do join one I will report back!

I've booked into a session but it's not until April. I cant decide if I think Wig will take to it like a duck to water or be totally freaked out by something different. He usually takes stuff in his stride but I haven't done anything out of the ordinary with him yet.

I have run a couple of clinics here (before covid), but not sure if anyone has taken up the baton (ha!) and held any since. I can put you in touch with the trainer we used - he is based in the UK now, he was WE champion multiple times in Portugal.

Yes, he and his wife run (or ran, not sure what he's up to at the moment - looks like he's concentrating on dressage again) WE training and teams.
He definitely still does, he trains the GB team / development team and is the main trainer on a camp I've signed up for in April :)

I tied two loops in a rope and hung it between jump wings to practice at home. Once he'd got over his fear of it (I think he thought it was an electric fence!) Chilli learnt the pattern and pretty much does it himself. It's important to train the calm, square, parallel halt before you grab the rope and again once you're through the gate and ready to put the loop back over again. It gives you the calmness and time to lift / replace the rope properly.

Now I just need to get him to transfer the skill to hacks, he hasn't quite made the connection between WE and real gates yet!

Yes, this is my plan, just need to get hold of some rope.
See, he is fab with gates out on hacks but I don't stay holding on to them. More a case of push/pull open, walk though and turn around, the close. We can lift the rope, turn and walk through, and stand with it in my hand (even place it on him) but when ask him to back up parallel to hook it back up he moves away from the post. It's odd as his rein back normally is very good.
As you say, just need him to learn the pattern.

I'm also going to camp in April!

Looking good with the garrocha.
I use my lunge line for an improvised gate at home. Not that we can do it properly yet, but working on it.

Camp sounds like fun!

The Spring Camp is great fun, lots of learning, time to practise and opportunities to meet people and chat over meals and in sessions. Enjoy!

I went on a riding holiday in Portugal and the farm I was at did both dressage training and WE with Pedro Neves. I was on a trail ride first and only had a couple of days at the farm so I did dressage lessons but the WE looked like so much fun! They had a huge all weather arena with every obstacle imaginable. Would defo recommend - the accommodation and food was also fantastic and the horses second to none.

📣 Just thought I'd do a little roll call for those going to camp this weekend. Starting to get excited!
Although has anyone had any information through - I've got no idea what time we're supposed to get there, or how it's going to run

I went to a demo evening at Talland recently, having absolutely no idea what i was actually going too! It was really good. It was run by a lady who is one of the top riders and she had 3 people she trains with her demonstrating the different levels, then she got on her own horse and showed us the top level stuff, all using the same props which i thought good.

I'm going!

I received an email about 3 weeks ago with detailed times etc - very odd if you didn't get it too. Drop me a PM and I can share the email address.

I'm going too! I have had 1 WE lesson ever but the camp is only 30 mins from me and I managed to get a waitlist spot. I'm really looking forward to it as I've felt very flat about competing etc the last year. I'm not stabling overnight though so will miss some of the socialising :(

I too had info a few weeks ago though so defo double check your junk mail!

Will do. I had one about dietary requirements, but that was it?
Unfortunately if it went I to junk it will have been automatically deleted by now.
