My horses were sampled for worms twice this year and none of them needed worming. I am now at a loss how to treat for tapeworms as all the wormers on sale treat tapeworms and the others that my horses dont have. What are people using now Equitape is no longer available?

Firstly twice a year really isn't enough to be making decisions not to worm from.
All tapeworm options will treat other worms, the only options now are double dose pyrantel, or praziquantel with ivermecting or moxidectin. There is some resistance to the former. I usually switch between the two.

Also, my vet told me that they stock an equitape equivalent that just does tapeworm. It's not available over the counter but I think all vets stock it, so you could give yours a ring and ask.

yeah I think westgate publicised that when equitape was withdrawn.
I use equimax/equvalan duo rather than pramox if I want to give praziquantel (too many horror stories about pramox plus I dose with normal equest later in the year normally).

When I asked my vet about the only-available-from-vets praziquantel she hadn’t heard anything about it. That was not long after Equitape was discontinued, though. Time to ask her about it again, I think.

Meanwhile I use Equimax (ivermectin + praziquantel) just for the praziquantel, alternated every six months with double dosing with Strongid P.

I won’t use Pramox - too many colics associated with its use. I use plain Equest annually in winter for encysted red worms.

I've been using Pramox for years with no issues, but my preference always used to be equitape in the autumn followed by Equest in the winter. I did try the equisal test this year but it's quite expensive, so by the time I'd paid for 2x equisal tests and found out one did, indeed need worming for tapeworm I'd spent far more than if I'd just wormed both ponies for tapeworm to start with.
