I would be more inclined to try her on a low level Danilon for a while. Give it maybe a month and see how she responds. Perhaps start with a bigger loading dose for 2 or 3 days then aim to get to 1 per day. Of course Danilon costs but if it is arthritis then 1 a day and light hacking may be the way to go.

I had her on Bute for a week after the physio a few weeks a go and there did seem to be a noticeable improvement.

I would probably go with that then. Minto hacked 3 times a week for 3 years on 1 Danilon a day due to mild arthritis.

Will the vet do that without doing anything else though? There just seems to be so many options, my mind is frazzled. I still can't decide whether to leave her shoes on either!

I've had a new saddle which is due to be fitted properly next week and I've only ridden in it 4 times for only half an hour a time over the space of 2 weeks. It seems to fit well to me but needs flocking in front but obviously I'm not qualified to know for sure if it's right so I've been keeping it limited until it's sorted.
Am I adding 2 and 2 and getting 5, or is this new-to-you saddle the saddle with the broken tree that you have been posting about on another thread?

If the latter, then the broken tree saddle would have been uncomfortable for her, so if you can get that resulting discomfort sorted with physio etc. and a new saddle that fits her, you may be back on track again.

Oh god no, definitely didn't use the broken saddle! I bought it while I was searching for a new one and the moment I took it out the box, did the tree test to find it was broken, all I did was sit it on her to see if it would have fit out of curiosity but that was all.

I've started her on a supplement with Glucosamine, Boswellia and MSM in as of yesterday. I do have a saddle sorted now too but she has had the week off ridden work and one short freeschooling session. I took her for a short hack today where she was full of herself as usual. She is still short on the front legs, slightly more so on the right. So it could be her knees but it could still be tightness in her shoulder from the last saddle.

I think I should get the xrays done on her knees anyway so I know what, if anything, is going on but I'm waiting to hear back from the vet. Should I get physio done or wait for the vet do you think?
