Sigh. We have been shutting them in overnight after Ratgate, but yesterday evening was different. Being explosions night, we shut in as soon as it got dark. Discovered due to this that the goodest boy was having an IBS flare-up. He projectile pooped on the kitchen floor and also weed in the hearth. They do have a litter in the conservatory, but he obviously didn't want to venture in that direction, only outdoors! Anyway, on an evening constitutional we observed few explosions, so we opened up the door and OH didn't close it at bedtime. Result = me being woken up by frantic OH at 1am with the news of a 'F***ing big rat' in the bathroom. Got there, no rat. Tentatively started patting clothing hung up and said giant ratto was inside my changing robe. Off I trudged, down the garden with my robe...

I'm afraid IBS or not, the door is closing again, later!!!

Has anyone else’s cat become a house terror in the rain? I have just been throughly dressed down by the toasted orange who wants to go outside but also doesn’t because it’s raining and wet toes are unacceptable.

I wish the Fat Kitten would stay indoors in the rain! He goes out and larks around and comes in without wiping his feet and jumps on me soaking wet. Seems to quite enjoy being dried off with a towel likes a dog...

Our family cat used to go to the back door to be let out, take one look if it was raining then trot off to the front door expecting it to be different. Never learned.

When it rained, ours used to whine at us to let them out, then two seconds later whine at us to come back in (parents didn't have a cat flap), then whine at us to go out, like we'd somehow turned off the rain in the intervening thirty seconds, then realise it was still raining and ask to come in....ad infinitum.

My cat came home after being away for four months, came through the window like he had never been away, ate two large tins of cat food, and never left the house for a week. He was too clean and fat to have been slumming it, so it seems someone had been feeding him but there were so many posts of Facebook, I put out flyers and I had friends with school age children to look for him in the last months perhaps they stopped.
He has now has a tracker and going out for the odd half day, seems his home from home is about a mile away just outside the village. We live on a small farm with lots of sheds and enough small animals within 10ft of the house, the cats have brought in snakes and baby rabbits to eat, that the cat food is a top up.
I feel a bit miffed,
