Would this be acceptable to you?

I hadn't thought anyone would put resources in the stables. That would increase the risk ten fold!

In my case Millie had actually gone in for a wee :o Other horse liked to 'manage' her in general.
Couldn't put hay outside so it was either indoors or no hay all day.

No hay, but we never took the water buckets out because they always preferred the manky trough just outside anyway and it would have been a pain taking them in and out twice daily, and metered so it was all quite precious :D. Easier just to keep the doors closed :D

The other horse probably cared more about the hay than Millie needing a wee...;)

I was really referring to the op's potential yard tho, multiple horses and things in the stable would be an even bigger disaster waiting to happen imo.

oh totally agree :) just that the 'resource' in question that drew M in there was unexpectedly the bedding rather than anything else! Lots of people put bedding in their shelters, and both my girls hold on till they can get inside to have a wee!

I have 3 horses with access to 3 stables but at times have had 4. I've not had any problems in the 3 years I've had this set even with a couple of new horses. Usually I find all 3 horses in one stable but I do feed hay one in each box and if I have 4 horses then the 4th gets hay outside. They do seem to work it out for themselves and if the boss goes in the others wait in the corner until they can get out.

I think it depends on the horses I would have that set up with one of mine he would be fine, but the other one would be an evil git and god forbid if another horse got trapped in the stable he wanted to get I to, I also would not risk it with other livery horses I would only consider it with my own.

With no shoes it wouldn't worry me, or even if they all had hinds off for the introduction period. My field shelter only has a stable door width entrance and I have no trouble, dominant horse stands in best corner and lower ones in front of him. I never put hay in though, it does have straw but I don't muck it out very often so it isn't very appealing.

For me it would depend on the horses. Calm small herd of chilled out types with no shoes, wouldn't see it as a problem. Youngsters or active types, no chance. In either case I wouldn't want any hay or feed in the boxes.
