Would you buy this..??

HQ 242984. 11 y/o suspensory issue horse for £2k. I'm OK thanks.

That breaks my heart. Only part way through the rehab process but for sale because darling precious daughters want to jump and compete. They can’t even be bothered to see the rehabilitation to the end. I wish people wouldn’t treat animals as disposable.

What a shame. He's got a lovely kind face and his owner should feel ashamed trying to sell him on with those issues.

Sadly I imagine a low end dealer will end up with him and will sell him on to some unsuspecting person without declaring the medical issues.

Putting aside my thoughts on the his medical issues unless all your friends hacking is off road the problem with traffic would mean an immediate no. My wonderful mare could have been described like that with traffic and although I had years of wonderful hacking with her and knew her inside out and how to manage her safely with large traffic she would have terrified and possibly been dangerous with a novice and having now had two as bombproof as you can get with traffic ponies the difference to me hacking is huge.

So - a happy hacker but scared of lorries.
Sound to work - but has had a neurectomy - so obviously unable to feel pain. Arthritis etc. too.

Don't look for trouble, OP, it finds horse owners quickly enough!

This pony should be retired to the field or PTS if the owners don't want it any more.
Absolutely ☝️

I have to say I think it's immoral to put a horse down if you can retire it comfortably.
Horses' lives have as much value as ours in my moral/ethical code.
Hence why I have two useless field sloths ornaments myself. :D

I have to say that I agree to some extent. I don't think it immoral to put a horse to sleep if you cannot manage financially with the problems, but I do believe it to be immoral to have a horse who could live a happy retirement put to sleep just so you can replace it and spend your money keeping a more useful horse. Just my personal opinion.

Horse prices are bonkers at the mo because i think the "safe sane carrier" type is so wanted. I saw a 16.1 medium verging on heavy mare 10yo for sale. Looked a nice animal in the photos. Description was along the lines of "only ever bred foals, unbroken, has a bad lung noise when she moves" 2.5k

On HQ there's companion only equines going for a grand. Who'd pay a grand for a field ornament! Am I missing something? ?‍♀️

Ad Ref #: 241070 - they have said you can just loan her, which would be a far better prospect than charging 1k

Give it a week, he'll be being advertised by one of the 'well known' dealers for twice the price, pictures of him jumping and no mention of the operation or arthritis...

Rufus of Sunnyneuk 14.3hh, 8 year old registered Highland pony. Exceptional fun loving chunky monkey. Excels at dressage with 61 preliminary and 7 novice BD points. Hacks out on own or in company but is nervous with big heavy vehicles. Good with farrier and vet and to clip. Lives in or out. Up to date with teeth vaccinations. Unfortunately had a neurectomy and fascitomy operation on hind legs in May and has some arthritis in hocks. Had vet check up 8 weeks ago and was sound. Now in full work 5 days a week. This special boy would suit a home with quiet hacking, dressage/schooling and other horses

A big shame, poor lad. :(

It's the will only sell to a loving home that gets me, like they're doing such a good job of being that already.

Unfortunately he is recovering from a suspensory ligament injury in his right hind leg. He has made good progress during rehabilitation and is currently ridden three times a week; out hacking at walk and trot and low level schooling. We have been advised that his future should only be as a gentle hack. His vetting record and scans are available to view.

We love him very much and are sad to offer him for sale but my daughters want to jump and compete. We are looking for an understanding and knowledgeable owner who is willing to give him time and care to continue his rehabilitation. We will only sell him if we are confident he will go to a loving home.

Up to date with vaccinations. More photos and videos available upon request.

Price includes bridle and rugs. Kent and Masters saddle subject to separate negotiation.

Oh yes, a loving home, but you have to pay extra for the saddle. :(
