Wow and Solution Saddles

it's a shame that Wow don't always have the mechanical horse on their stand, because it does give a better feel of how the saddles are to ride in, though obv not as much as the real thing ;)

Years ago I had a sit in a wow at Badminton on the mechanical horse, and literally said 'Wow!'. It was so instantly comfortable and put me in perfect balance that I knew i'd have one if the horse liked it.
I've picked some bargains up over the years - have owned 4 but down to 2 at the moment, one was bought new about 8 years ago and one very old bought 2nd hand for £250.

If I ever come into money I'll upgrade to the new mega lightweight ones. I was disappointed by the solution stand at YHL this weekend, they didn't seem remotely bothered in talking to customers which was disappointing as I was curious about them. Not for my horses, just cos it's interesting. I thought I'd find them quite uncomfortable as the twist appeared rather wide and flat.
 
I love my WOW jumping saddle. I got it second hand off ebay and got my local WOW fitter to fit it for me. I think they are really comfortable. I popped by the stand this wekedn at YHL and looked at dressage saddles. My fitter happened to be there so took me through all the options and told me what I need to look out for on the second hand market. Unfortunatly the flaps I liked are new and I haven't seen any second hand so will probably have to go down the new saddle route when I can save up enough pennies!
 
There is a WoW second hand parts page on FB, so once you get the fitter out, and know what you are looking for you might be able to pick parts up from there. I have some head plates and a set of panels to get you started if they are the right shape and size :D
 
We have Solution Saddles, three to share between two riders nd four horses, we find them excellent, comfortable for riders and horses. The quality of ours is excellent and we have shown them to a variety of people who know their stuff and they agree that they are good quality leather. They do need to "warm up" to start with, but they are very very comfortable. I think it is quite important to ensure that you get the right size for the rider, as rider position is helped by having the right size saddle.

See, that would drive me nuts! I like being able to use just a single thing saddle cloth, no shimming or padding, just plonk on cloth, saddle on top and off you go (one of the reasons why I could never get on with HM saddles either!)

I'm even worse than you. I've got horses who could theoretically share a saddle. Except they need different sized girths and I don't like them to share a numnah for hygiene reasons. I could get a numnah without straps, but I'd still have to change the girth each time and I just CBA, so they get a saddle each and girths and numnahs stay attached. I know, I'm lazy :biggrin3:

Well not really as once set up it's all stuck to the numnah or in some cases inside the saddle so that really isn't onerous.

Yes exactly. And besides, the saddle is flexible so it to a certain extent fits itself to each horse. Unlike a treed saddle being "plonked" on different horses. Generally you refit once the horse has changed shape (which usually involves removing things rather than adding them).

I have found people who simply can't get their heads round balancing the saddles themselves though.
