WOW saddles....any views??

Had to go down the WOW route with my mare. Absolutely impossible to get her properly fitted. Went like a dream in instructor's WOW and bought one. We love ours. They are only as good as the fitter who works on them though, got my fitter very highly recommended.

The older ones were rather heavy but from what I hear the new ones are fairly lightweight. For me I found the upkeep costs to be pretty high, but that may just have been my horse. We were having the saddle checked every 3 months or so, and a quick fit check and air adjustment cost around £120.

Marmite. I love them. Got two new ones in manufacture right now :)

They are heavy. They could never be called close contact.

Some horses feel the air bag overlap and for that reason I would never ride without a wool cloth or a thin gel.

Some second hand seats from around 2007 are over filled and many people find them uncomfortable.

Most horses love the carbon fibre joint which allows the whole front arch to swing with their shoulders.

They are a godsend with young horses that change shape all the time, especially if you buy a pump and laden to fit them yourself.

The dual stirrup bar is great on a VSD/GP

The leather they are currently using for new ones is sumptuous!

They are horribly expensive to buy new!

Nope, sorry, no-one could ever call them lightweight. They are lighter than they were but probably the heaviest new saddle on the market by quite a margin. It's their big drawback.

Depending on the size/seat/panel they weigh the best part of ten kilos without any attachments on them.

I've been weighing them to post recently.

PS got two size two deep seat dressage to sell in two weeks time if anyone's looking :)

the new super snazzy ones are very lightweight, though also extra ££££

seriously impressed when I saw them at Badminton, I'd say the weight would rival my cc Equipe. I love the innovation that goes into them. One day I'll cobble together some money for a carbon fibre headplate, even that is load lighter than the steel ones, and prob less than the old alu ones.

Sorry, I'm out of date then. My friend's is a year old and it's not that lightweight. I'm even more pleased I've replaced mine now :)

I'll weigh one when I get it and let people know exactly.

it was unveilled at badders and their sponsored riders were just receiving them. IIRC Francis W had decided to keep the flair but Paul Tapner was going for latex panels. THe ones they had on the stand had textile seats to be extra lightweight, though they did had an all leather version which was their 'showjumper' prototype. Very impressed.

My YO is sponsored by them and i hate riding in them and so do all the grooms. dressage aren't aaass bad but the jumping and xc seats are unbearable.

I love them. I jump on a flat y bar event seat x 2

And I hack and school in a deep seat curved y bar giant high blocks x 2

See, marmite saddles :)

I had no idea! I dealt with them direct and I didn't know they had produced a lighter one. I'm so excited now!!!

I love mine. I ended up getting one fitted (and then buying all the parts second hand to put together) for a horse who was very difficult to fit - I have a 17" seat for me on 16" panels for him (he's very short backed) but it makes no difference the size for other horses so I simply get the width amended whenever I put it on a different one. I think you very much need to try out the different seats and flaps as some people love (and hate) some combinations. I have a flattish seat with GP flaps and I do everything in it (eventing, BS, WH, Trec). Mine is quite heavy, thats my only bug bear but they're so solidly built I guess that's going to happen.

The new one is a completely different saddle though so if you've ordered one of the normal modular Saddles these will be the same weight as your friends

I'm trying a wow tomorrow, always loved the idea of them but never actually sat in one. It's exciting :)

Ah, that explains things, yes mine are modular. I'll be very happy with them, I'm sure. Thanks for the info :)
