WOW saddles

two of my friends, both well known and professional are using them and love them, and though the lure of endorsements and freebies might influence them publicly i know both of them well enough to know they are using them all the time and have done for at least a year now. i also know the mother of one rider who uses them who is an outstanding horsewoman herslf, that would not let God himself self her child a product that didnt do what it said on the tin.
on the other hand, i did find them quite bulky to ride in but that might be cos of my rather more bulky thighs!

Casey2312 just out of interest why did you hate your too!!

Becuase I felt perched, my horse took longer than normal to react to seat aids, (she wasn't happy in it either)

And I couldn't get my leg on properly.

Wouldn't have one now if they were giving them away.

I adore my WOW dressage, and Bailey has been a different horse since we changed. The intial fitting is 3 hours so you get plenty of time to ride in it and decide if it suits you/ your horse

if you really wanted him, then im sure david would come out to you. he is very good.

It is a LONG way out for him to come and he will charge even if he can fit it in...he is v busy and seldom comes this far west and if he does you need to ensure you have booked him WAY in advance! That said, he sorted my saddle in about 5 mins and now it is perfect so it is worth the wait.

Tempi David recommended a woman who works out of Swindon - have a look and see if she is listed on his website.

I absolutely love mine. The transformationin my horse was amazing, he was so much softer thru his back. It does take quite a while to get used to, and I think for it to mould a bit. You do feel like you are sitting on top for a while. I am so secure in it tho, esp my leg position

xx

which one are you getting?

i got a shallow seat cross country, and love it to bits, its so comfortable, and i don't need a breast girth anymore ( i used to have a polo breast girth on and still have to adjust the saddle!)

david owns wow, its his business, canterbury direction, if you ever go there, the pub down the end of the lane has great food.

Thanks, I thought he was the owner as it was him I spoke to when i first enquired about it, so he must be my local fitter as we're canterbury based. Ah at least I know we'd be in good hands when we eventually get round to giving it a go

I also had a head plate crushed - fortunately - as hubbys horse rolled over it after falling over a jump whilst eventing.

I saw fortunately because had the plate not stretched he would have suffered severe injury to his withers... and the saddle would have been finished.

The air bags can be felt but they havenever caused a problem for any of my horses.... I use a standard numnah.

Ive seen huge improvements from these saddle but its horses for courses.

I can vouch for Fiona...if you arent happy and she cant fix it...she wont sell it. Simple.

She is also a trained physio and a traditional saddler so she can sort all types of problems....

I've got 2 wows and went through a stage of hating them as had so many problems.

However, like Weezy, our fitter had not done a good job. Since David came out, saddles are now fine and I am almost a happy bunny.

David is in fact making a gizmo to attach to the saddle to deal with my horse's ridiculous girth line. Had I used any other fitter and they would not have been able to deal with this. If your horse is in any way oddly shaped, I would try and get David out.

The WOW saddle I had fitted, by some lunatic in Dorset, eventually sealed the fate of my lovely ID mare. He fitted it with a front plate that was like a peg over her withers, he didn't tighten the rear of the saddle so it was flapping about on her back and when I queried it he shoved a numnah under it. I complained repeatedly to David at WOW and he knew the fitter concerned, he is probably still fitting saddles. I was contacted via a friend by a lady who knew of several riders who had suffered under this saddle fitter. WOW authorised him as one of their fitters but they were no help to me at all, I lost lots of money and the health of my horse whose withers never did recover and she subsequently died of a related problem. She was 8 years old. I was disgusted at the attitude of WOW and I would like to warn people that if they get a fitter out from Houghton Stables in Dorset, don't buy anything off this man he is lethal.

Must admit, it was david and maggie who sorted my fitting also and i was miiiiiiiiles away from them (derbyshire). But i was lucky in that they were dropping off a saddle for one of richard davisons new babies at the time and he already knew my horse so agree'd to let me head over for a fitting.

Tempi - you already know my opinion on them. I find it very odd that some people think they arent suited to sensitived backed horses as thats exactly what mine is. Also strange that someone said the horse was slower to respond to seat aids since thats one of the many things the wow is hailed for. (I know for me, it helped me immensely with changes as i could "feel" much more where each leg was and at the exact point to ask for the changes).

Id be inclined to at least email first thought and have a chat with david to see if him going out would be an option for you. Incidently, mention who you train with ;p Sounds awful but it may also help

Im sorry, but if you were aware of all these problems, why on earth did you use the damn saddle on the horse or even buy it?

I have 4 WOW saddles , have been using them for 10yrs, and was and still am one of the 'test riders'. I can safely say the WOW has been fitted to all sorts of horses and riders for that matter and have had huge success with them. Some time ago there was some minor teething problems with the head plates that has now been rectified and if i have ever had any othe issues my saddles have always been dealt with proptly by WOW.
Fiona is by far the best fitter , better even i believe than David. She is a lovley lady who is totally genuine and i would never fail to recomend her. She does all my horses and my clients. All together on my yard we have 10 WOW saddles. Not all dressage either and all the versions.

love mine and horse is very sensitive-his movement was transformed in it. I dont really understand the comments about weight aids-havent found this with my youngster at all. I did have a headplate that was warped by a fall-has now been replaced with a reinforced one. I do understand the comments about feeling perched but that feeling soon went IME.
They wont suit all horses and all riders obviously but surely before you spend so much on a piece of kit you would have it on a decent trial?
