WTF!!! Disgusting!!

That is so un natural whatever damage are they doing to horse and how on earth would they train horse to perform like that humanely:eek::eek:

Hopefully they have tighter controls over the techniques these days. I know some used to strap some kind of acid stuff? or something onto the legs, and they were so tender the horses couldn't bare to put their legs down. Of course I have read this on the internet so could be a load of baloney.

I also think it looks awful, not elegant or impressive.

If you research tenessee walking horse (sp) it brings up some stuff :)

I trained with alot of americans (none of them did this type of riding, but knew people who did!), putting acid on the legs of these horses is common practice even today, as is packing nails into the feet. It is disgusting.

Revolting! :( People cheering on a load of tortured horses :( Poor, poor horses.

How can anyone who loves horses think that this is an enjoyable thing to watch. The horse looked almost crippled in the early pics with the original rider he looked more happy.

It is just awful to see these horses made to move like this.

I rode a TWH over the summer and they are such impressive movers naturally, that there's no need for this disgusting practise. Sadly "Big Lick" contests remain huge in parts of the South. The prize money is significant and people will do anything to turn their horses into a "big freak" (bizarre compliment in this world).

I've seen similar and worse before sadly! I had a link to two year olds but can't seem to find it.

The practices of soring etc. etc. are actually illegal but money, ego, corruption and culture keep these unforgivable practices going!

A search brings up loads of horrfic stuff and also groups working to stamp this out.

Here's the two year olds but I think it's been linked already.

Just shows what us humans can think is desirable/beautiful and how much cruelty we ARE capable of inflicting in the name of being 'best'. Message here for all of us imo.
Money, money, money and status are the holy grail to many humans to the detriment of many other species.
