Hopefully they have tighter controls over the techniques these days. I know some used to strap some kind of acid stuff? or something onto the legs, and they were so tender the horses couldn't bare to put their legs down. Of course I have read this on the internet so could be a load of baloney.
I also think it looks awful, not elegant or impressive.![]()
I trained with alot of americans (none of them did this type of riding, but knew people who did!), putting acid on the legs of these horses is common practice even today, as is packing nails into the feet. It is disgusting.

Just shows what us humans can think is desirable/beautiful and how much cruelty we ARE capable of inflicting in the name of being 'best'. Message here for all of us imo.How can anyone who loves horses think that this is an enjoyable thing to watch. The horse looked almost crippled in the early pics with the original rider he looked more happy.
It is just awful to see these horses made to move like this.
