Wussy horse needs under rug

My mare is so wussy she really feels the cold. SHe is currently wearing a PE 450g with full neck rug and she is not clipped. Went up to yard tinight and well the big wuss was cold, its not as cold in Scotland as it is further south will prob go down to about minus 2 tonight. So as she gets really upset and bolshy when she is cold I guess I will need to but her an under rug so can anybody recommend one?

I personally like the woolen rugs as under rugs, keep them really warm! i have a nemarket ripp off one from robinsons and she wears it under her HW, keeps her very snug and comfortable

if its really cold - its -5 here hen i pop her thermatex between her woolen rug and the HW

I like the amigo stable rugs as under rugs - my mare has a LW one on tonight under her stable rug and it fits nicely underneath her TO as well. Also fits easily in our washing machine so is easy to keep clean. They have nylon lining and outer so the other rug doesn't ride back on the horse, everything stays in place nicely - I find fleeces etc useless as under rugs because they often slip back.

I'd second the wool rugs. We have a very wussy pony who gets grumpy when cold, I've tried all sorts but last year when it went cold I tried the wool rug as one of his layers, because he was up to 4 rugs and I was getting a bit desperate. It worked for him, so I would guess it would work for yo. The amigo HW stable rug was not man enough for the job unfortunately (they are good rugs though).

Dont get a proper under rug, I tried to wash mine and it has not cleaned properly and cant get it to dry. Tomorrow I am going to buy a fleece or a wollen newmarket
