WWPD about buying a horse? (AFAF)

Friend in question has been considering buying a horse for quite some time now. Only thing stopping him is that there’s a decent possibility of him being sent to work abroad in 2026, would be for around 3 years, and very small chance of taking horse with him (wouldn’t be going to a particularly horsey country).

So WWYD?
A Buy a horse and then retire it/loan it out until returning
B Continue looking for a loan (so far search has been unsuccessful)
C Buy horse after working abroad

Buy one now. If and when/if he needs/wants to sell/loan it whatever (whether in 2026 or some other time), sort it out then. Life is too short to put things on hold for practically a decade because of "what ifs"!

Agreed with others. Five years is a long time. If I had avoided buying my last horse, or even my current horse, because of what I might be doing later (which is constantly on my mind now with my job).... I would have missed out on several wonderful years with them. I wish your friend the best of luck and hope he finds something great!
