Once you have decided do it quickly. The very worst part of it all is the waiting. When I decided with mine, I made the decision finally around 9pm, he was gone by 11am the next day. I was heartbroken about it, but it being so quick made it much, much easier. The few hours I waited the next morning were agonising though.

When we had our two boys put down, we decided on the Tuesday but had to wait till the Sat when we could both be there. It was a very hard few days. It was worse for my sister on the day because my horse was done first as most likely to get upset and hers was more laid back. He didn't see mine done but he heard the shot and knew what had happened because he had been there before. Very upsetting for her trying to reassure him.
Worst part for me was gong back in the evening to do the others and not seeing the boys waiting for me. Still miss them. However we knew it was the right thing to do so don't regret it, just the necessity to do it.
