So vet came today. Work up concluded fronts have improved - no obvious concerns re near fore. Good news. Focus for now is the back end and hocks given previous x-rays - her hind end action is so flat. Vet doesn’t want to use arthramid for her x-ray changes on hocks - says great for coffin joints but not necessarily for hocks. So we got her bloods to test insulin and if all good we’ll medicate with steroids in the next few weeks. If insulin levels high it’s likely I will semi retire her ?.

@Ceriann I'm intrigued why your vet doesn't like arthramid for arthritic hocks? We've had two horses injected and it's been extremely successful. Does he have a different experience or has he just not used it much for hocks?

His view was that it’s less useful in hocks and steroids is the better choice for arthritic hocks. Steroids or articel, the latter being v expensive. He didn’t have a different experience (or didn’t mention if he did) he clearly just doesn’t think it’s the better option for the issues my mares hocks are presenting. I think the fact you can’t use anything else with it is a factor
