Doing my 1st ever ODE tomorro. Its only 2'3 and most jumps are nice, but i'm not sure how to ride this one ...

Its a 2ft high(ish) jump with a drop the other side and then about one stride before a small coffin / ditch.

Is it best to approach it at trot or canter?

Any tips???

Im no expert at all but would advice forgetting about the drop and the ditch part, imagine its just the telegraph pole and ride it exactly the same way you will have riden everything else, in whichever pace you feel more confident. At that height pace shouldnt make much of a difference (as long as you dont belt towards it) and confident riding should find you both flying home! Good luck :-)

I think its a case of knowing your horse and how confident you are as a pair. Its small enough to trot and that way you'll have time to collect yourself together befor the ditch, but plans always go out of the window once you're in the flow of the course! just see what you fancy doing when you get there and have fun!! good luck!

I would ride it with a collected canter stride with my leg on, I wouldn't go at an open canter to it is a combination of fences. Good luck tomorrow

Agree with others, best to approach in a pace you feel comfortable with - either a nice forward trot, or a shorter canter - depending on your horse's level of training, with the horse well in front of your leg . Sure it will ride fine

my haffie doesnt like ditchs much except the ones at my yard. so i advise u to trot if u are unsure, but if u are confident and ur horse doesnt mind them id canter xD
good luck xD
