if there is an accident on a diy livery only yard (no riding school or anything) should tard owner fill out accident form even RIDDOR forms? Unsure yet if anything serious yet but girl taken away in ambulance on a board, neck brace ,morphine for pain, has pain in back and numbness in left leg.Just wondering if any forms should be completed as just a livery yard.
Thanks

Yes, all accidents/injuries should be recorded in an official accident book, ideally by the person injured but it can be filled out by a third party in circumstances like this. However (best practice!) the injured person should sign the form at a later date to say that they agree with the account if filled out by some one else.

I'm not sure about RIDDOR - This may only apply to an employee/contractor -Health and Safety Executivewill be able to clarify. Their website also has a lot of guidance and resources that can help protect both clients and livery owners if there is an accident.

Also, it may be wise to inform your insurance company if you think there might be a claim...

Thanks for replies.
Wasn't sure about RIDDOR as H&S exec turned up at an old yard when my horse literally stood on my friends head, she was not an employee.Apparently YO should have filled out RIDDOR but didn't know if that was because it was also a riding school.
TBH they were scary people!!!
