Quick Question,

I had arranged to move Vardi on the 30th May to his new yard, however after talking with the trainer we would like to give him another 6 - 8 weeks with her.

New YO is fine with this but a bit flummoxed at what to charge as a box holding fee. Livery is 270 per month including Feed, bedding and hay.

Anyone got any thoughts we are both being too nice to each other neither of us wanting to name a figure I don't want to insult her by naming a too low one she doesn't want to name to high one.......help.

Our yard charges £20 per week for box holding, but they are full with a waiting list so not an unfair charge. Normal livery is £54 per week.

Full cost of the box, minus feed. If you normally pay for horse handling by the yard, like turnout, then you might need to include that. They still have to pay the staff while you're away.

Some would charge full price.. I would expect to pay at least half.....especially if there is a waiting list....

Our holding charge is half the livery.

You moving again? Or was that always the plan?

Always part of the plan he is on Training Livery at the moment and is 45k away from home and the training livery is costing 850 euros a month...cough!

My livery Yard charge £50 a week (normal is £96 for part livery)
They are basically deducting the hay / feed/ shavings etc, but still have to pay the other bills including the YM's salary. She still works the same hours even if she only has 9 to do instead of 10
