For those of you who don't frequent the SoapBox, my husband of 15 years has just run off with someone 10 years younger than me, so I'm now on my own. Sadly, he was a miserable so & so, & I'm afraid that I'm quite enjoying life without him...except that he was my groom/box driver.
Anyway, today I REALLY wanted to take Trev to Lordsbridge for Trailblazers sj, but I'm terrified of driving our 7.5 ton DAF. I drove to MKEC about 2 years ago, and haven't driven it since. I was dithering & dithering this morning as I couldn't make my mind up what to do, & when it got almost too late to go, I suddenly thought, eff it, grow a pair & get on with it. So I slung Jenny (long suffering travelling companion) & Trev on the lorry & off we went.
The scarey bit is going thru the village as there's cars parked on both sides, & if you're unlucky sometimes there isn't enough room to get the box thru. I was lucky, & we got there without incident.
There was a CR, so we did that, & just had a baby mistake at one jump. Having done all that driving (only 15 miles, but I was super-scared) I thought we might as well do a class. We did the 65 cm, jumped a nice DC & qual'd for the Trailblazers 2nd round. He is so easy to jump...really tries for me & will let me put him where I want him.
Then drove home, & only had a rub of the kerb coming up to the village cos I was scared of going thru again. Someone let me go, so that was fine. I was dreading having to squeeze thru a chicane of parked cars.
So....good points:
I CAN drive the box, so might keep it instead of getting a 3.5 ton.
No airs above the ground in the warm-up.
I CAN manage at shows alone.
It's FUN going to shows alone without Mr Grumpy Pants spoiling it.
Early days, but Trev is shaping up to be quite the little show-jumper.
Only bad point...
There will be no photos or videos ever again cos I can't take them of myself!
