Except for the fact they are in kit form and will take a lot of effort to asemble...
Both sons are home over Christmas so I won't tell them until they arrive we need a day's work out of them.
I'm really impressed with the construction and service from IAE, delivered when they promised and so well made.
We've had to concrete a large space for the tackroom, and that won't get built until the stables are finished, but it will be such a bonus having everything under one roof, no more getting wet mucking out (not that I do it apart from when CCJ's away) no more leaves blowing all over th stableyard etc, and enough room to wash/clip plait under cover. We plan to install a heat lamp or two for drying off so they can be used in cold weather for tacking up etc too.
The building was formerly a small indoor school, and enough room for 32 boxes, it was rarely used once we built the arena so ideal as an American barn.
Now there is just the small matter of CCJ hand painting around 80 feet of seven feet high back wall with wood preservative and we can start.. (yes C nothing gets started until you do the wall!!!

Sounds brilliant! How many stables will you have alltogether now? The building must be absolutely massive, if it used to have an indoor school AND 32 boxes if that is what you meant?
So will you be running a bigger livery/competition yard next year?

The building is 27 metres square and we used to ride in it. Originally it was a stockshed with concrete passageways which we removed, all we've done is return it to as it was plus a bit wider concrete.
The stables will be down one side with room for a washroom and loo at the end, the tackroom is going to be purpose built so we can incorporate the best security systems in it.
For now we will just build six boxes, we only have four at the moment, so a total of ten, but if enough people want livery we will repeat the plan opposite, and that still only takes up half the whole area. It's going to be good having the shavings etc and a haylage bale all under cover, even the muckeap is right outside the far door straight onto a trailer.
CCJ has a new trainer and is really getting motivated, we have two horses for sale and intend to bring on the odd one we see that appeals to sell on, and for her to continue competeing the homebred ones, which we have realised are pretty damn good!
I'm having a load of work done on my horsebox after Christmas, new storage and tack lockers and new seats etc plus a general check to ensure it will stand up to the higher mileage we plan on next year.
Chocx is sound as a pound and looking fabulous so he will carry on competing too, it isn't that long now to march, so we have to get moving!
What would be nice is to have a couple of people who also compete stabled here, we will be adapting the grazing etc too so liveries are separate from the rest.
