Only bloomin qualified for royal international horse show!!!!!!!!! By complete fluke!! But wow!!!! First season out and couldn't have asked for a better start!!! Bath and west in two weeks time, hope the good luck continues! Eeeeep!!!!

The photographer took a fair few photos but I haven't purchased any yet, the purchase system doesn't work on my ipad, boooo! I could try a link.

Yes small riding horse. Nope never! This is our first year out! He is only six. I'm really looking forward to the experience! He was only registered with BSHA two weeks ago! It was after he took reserve champ at a grass roots section at the BSHA spring show and I decided to give the small riding horse classes a go and register him. He has been doing intermediate SRT since march. We are going to boot camp between now and then haha!!

Right then, hope you are sitting down.

Assuming you are not near enough to travel on the day and will be stabling on site. Unless there have been improvements the boxes are not great. The walk from the stabling and lorry park is enormous and steep. Allow much more time than normal and do not forget anything you might need at the ring. (popping back to the box is not an option unless you are parked very far forward). If it a hot day the whole place is like a dust bowl. Keep your lorry secure.

Boot camp is a good idea, the class will be bigger than you have ever seen. There were 35 hunters in our class, it was like a cavalry charge when they galloped on.

It will be a wonderful experience for you and good luck. My advice would be to use it as a stepping stone and education for the horse. In the meantime have a go at a few Hoy's qualifiers, you will enjoy HOY's more than Hickstead.

Thank you very much for that! We are going to bath and west a week tomorrow and that is a hoys qualifier, trying to get as much ring experience as possible! My class is at 7:30 in the morning so look like il be getting up even earlier to walk down to the rings! ;-)

Very well done.

Echo everything Adorable Alice says - a lot of walking! I really like Hickstead but OH aka the groom finds it very hard going as he walks everywhere whilst I sit on the horse!!

A bonus is even if not placed you get a really nice rosette with a gold centre piece but obviously even better to be placed.

The warm up arena is huge - you are on early so that is good as it gets full of enormous show jumpers which are about twice the size of my show horse.

It is enormous fun so enjoy and good like at Bath and West. We are there but different day I think.
