Its been a year since i first met my lovely boy. I had just got fed up of lessons as they never had a horse for me (too tall and heavy for most of the 14hh cobs that seem to dominate the riding school scene here! and too nervous to ride the better younger horses) so i part loaned him twice a week. Eventually took him on full loan.

The smile on my face the first time i rode him is testiment to how i felt about him. He was not easy on the ground, but that was not a problem to me - my issues were ridden and he never ever put a foot wrong.

Finally bought him a couple of months ago cause he was just too good for me. Hes not perfect by far, but he is the horse i have always imagined i would have.

So far i have done a xmas ride, went to the beach, done a small sj class and riding class, been to Trec and generally turned my confidence about 100%! I owe this horse a very lot :)

Picture is of him the day he came - he had been out on loan and just threw in a field i believe - it took a long time to get him back to weight!

All better now! He has a spark in his eye now :)

Was looking through my old posts, mainly for nostalgia and found this. I missed our 3rd year meetaversairy and 2nd year ownervarsairy as had other things going on, but just looking at his old photo was a shock! I tend to forget how really truely awful the poor boy was both physically and mentally. Hes doing great at the moment and you would not think he was 19. I could have this horse for the rest of my life in his current state...and we would both pass away peacefully holding hands/hooves at the same time when im a ripe old lady. I wish he was younger so i would have more time, but alas that is life and i will now have sooooooo much bigger expectations from any horse because of him. He is perfect to me bar a few quirks i love about him, and i will only demand as perfect as him in future.

Current photos :)

What a heartwarming post! He's gorgeous and you two look fab! I love posts like yours about riders finding the horse of their dreams, building a partnership of mutual confidence in each other and having loads of fun together :)

Big coloureds will always have a spot in my heart after having had Jake, and every word you said resonated with me - our ownership stories are similar in so many ways. How lovely! He's become quite the handsome man, and I hope you have plenty more years of happiness and exploring to come!
