Firstly, it is currently Saturday so I will be nervously calling my vet Monday morning to book a visit but just looking for some peace of mind over the weekend.

At the start of the year my mare shared a field with a yearling colt as I was struggling to find a new location over the winter. I moved her to a new place towards the end of May and she has been continuously gaining weight since. For some more information she is unridden and unrugged but hasn't been given any hard feed or hay- just grass.

This was her when she moved to the new field, end of May

Opinions? TIA😁

That second pic especially says it quite loudly imo... But also she's not likely to be anything except up the duff after being kept with a colt 🤷

I think it’s pretty obvious that the mare left in a field with an entire male is pregnant?
Given that I sent her off to a stud yard 2 years ago running with a stallion for 2 months and had no luck and the colt only turning one as she was moved i thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. Her new field is covers a massive mountain and the grass is lovely, didn't think a grass belly was out of the question.

Sounds like useful information to have in the first post?

Been doing some reading on here and seems estrone sulfate blood test would be my best bet just for confirmation? Anyone got any idea how far gone as a guess? No development in udders at the moment.

Impossible to tell from photos but it’s pretty irresponsible to turn her out with a colt and not scan her to check for twins at the very least.
As for due date- 11months on from whenever you turned her out with a colt until 11 months after you removed her from the colt. No one can say more accurately than that, you have potentially set yourself up for a very long period of sleepless nights.

Oh yes I realise that now, I had no idea colts could be fertile as young as 6 months old at the time 😳 she was moved closer to home as of yesterday so it will be easy to keep an eye on her from here on out.

Pregnant, get her scanned for twins ASAP, as in... tomorrow, and get the vet to get a hand in her, she looks like she's dropped enough that they should be able to palpate.

I'm on the fence as to whether she is or not. What does she look like when stood properly as her legs are underneath her which may influence her outline.
Saying that, I love a free foal .👍

Not sure I have any photos of her stood properly, will try getting one in the morning but hopefully vet will be out anyway and we have confirmation of the situation.
Given everything goes smoothly from here 🙏
