You can get her scanned this early, but if they suspect she may be later stages then (from memory, I might be wrong) it's cheaper to get a vet to manually find out

Good luck for Thursday!

I had a surprise foal - vet looked, put her arm in and could feel hooves then scanned and I saw an eye looking at me. This was only 2 weeks before he arrived.
Your mare’s tummy looks similar to how my mare looked. Is her tummy wider on one side than the other?

Oh wow, that must've been a surprise! Hmm, I'm not too sure about her being bigger on one side. I'll have a front on view tomorrow and have a check!

here is my honest opinion obviously get her checked for the mares safety as you don’t want a mare foaling alone. if the colt is only one chance are he hasn’t reached sexual maturity as that normally happens at the age of 2 you would probably have seen warning signs . If the mare is 12 and struggling to get foal chances she not pregnant they usually require hormones and AI .my mare would look like your mare if she has a lot of grass in field she looked like a broodmare in foal it’s just weight gain and gass.

Yeah I thought it could be a possibility she'd just turned into a chunker. Well.. one day till we find out, the wait is killing me!

Thanks for taking the time to update, OP. At least you don't have to worry about her foaling down in January and have plenty of time to get prepared. Though she seems quite big for 5 months, it must be a huge baby.
Of course, you've all been very helpful! Oh I know, I'm so glad it won't be a mid winter baby. I was thinking so too, but I'll be on the lookout for any signs in case she pops sooner 😁
