Farriers who leave nails all over the yard. And people who don't sweep up after their farriers. Grrrrr.

What gets your goat? (Please don't say "people ranting on the internet when they should just have a word with the person or person responsible " :lol: )
 
:lol: oh my goodness ALL these things annoy me also. Well apart from the cat one. I don't have a cat. I have dogs and have given up hope when it comes to carpets.

It's such a pet hate of mine. My farrier gets very grumpy about other farriers leaving nails on the yard but I still always sweep up after just in case. I don't know how likely it actually is but I get really antsy about my horses standing on a nail and it doing them some damage. I've decided there's no point ranting and raving at anyone though. I'll just swear a bit and sweep up myself. :lol:
 
Years ago our farrier had a big disc magnet on a chain, he would swing/ hover it over the ground walk around the area he worked and all nails/ nail tips were gone. Have never seen one used since!
 
I am just annoyed with everything at the moment all my friends are out partying tonight so want to go but still on one leg hopping around getting very annoyed with not being able to do my everyday things. currently drinking some wine on the sofa but it's just not the same:(

to be fair though I think it's up to horse owners to sweep up farrier mess it's not down to the farrier to sweep up after shoeing.

Sorry you're having a rough time. Hope you have a speedy recovery and can get back to some normality soon. Horrible being laid up.

I quite agree about owners sweeping up but think the farrier has some responsibility to keep control of the nails. Just some thoughtful professionalism rather than being careless. I just hate carelessness.

thank you its because I am now feeling better you just want to do your normal stuff and you just can't, zimmer chair does come in handy at home but won't quite fit in down the local pub or wine bar so just have to wait it out.
 
People who are having trouble with their horse, you suggest they go and get some professional help and they look at you as if you had descended from another planet.

People who park next to you at a show far too close and tie their horse up well within kicking distance of my horse, or else leave the lead rope so loose that it get caught up.
 
People not sweeping up in front of their stable.

My dad putting a bale of hay in the hallway - good at the time cause you don't have to move the mere 30ft to the hay holding, but the bleddy mess!

People not sweeping up their tackroom "spot" after having a haynet sitting at it.


Basically people not brushing stuff up hahaha Yo love me cause im very handy with a brush.
 
Teenager livery in next stable ties Hay net up outside stable ties horse up and leaves it ages...hay goes all over my stable area, she never ever brushes it up.
Why doesn’t she just give dam horse hay net inside her own stable.
She been told time and time again...was so glad when I moved
 
People who drive down an iced over country hill in a Ford Fiesta and then knock my door saying 'we came out to sledge and we're stuck, can you help us?'.

Top of my head blows right off if they're stuck somewhere stopping me from getting out in my battered old Hilux with snow tyres on.
 
Oh, just remembered another one. The livery in the next stable using my stable door as a saddle rack, with my horse still in the stable.
Luckily my horse is not a chewer/fiddler, but she doesn't know that. If it got damaged I wouldn't be offering to cough up!
Fortunately I have moved stable now.
 
People interfering with my horses: they aren't a bloody petting zoo thanks, would you do that with someone's I dog in their garden, no, so why do it with horses in a field. Also on the subject of dogs, don't like dogs running up to you out on public bridleways etc. Or dogs being allowed to run amok in my field!!!!!!! ���������� with the excuse "they're fine", we'll they might be, but I happen to be scared of dogs (sorry dog folks) so don't really find it pleasant. Not to mention not all horses are okay with them, though mine are thankfully despite my poor example to them lol. Also generally horses/people with no concept of personal space and horses that are rude/mug you for food. And pretty much all of the above too!
 
Lots! People who use their horses as armchairs while waiting around at a show; if you're not actively riding, get off and give the poor thing a break. Riders who use tack they don't know the use of and don't know how to fit (martingales in particular).

When you find someone has done/in the process of doing something to your property that you don't like, and when challenged say 'oh, so-and-so said you wouldn't mind'. Maybe I wouldn't have minded too much, but I bloody well do now!

And cheeky ***** who give you lip and say 'I know it is' and carry on across your private property when you have just politely pointed out to them it is private.

Basically, cheeky wee-takers of all shapes and forms :D
