Decided it was time to give my boy his annual belly shave last night - he's not the bravest but tries his hardest.
Normally use my mums clippers as they're way quieter than mine, but didn't have them to hand and thought I would try mine again this year.
He was clearly concerned (flared nostrils, arched neck and pretty rooted to the spot) but with lots of reassurance and time outs with treats for good behaviour we completed a respectable chaser clip.
I just felt proud of the fact that he trusts me enough to attempt to deal with an experience he's not 100% confident with.

Anyone else have these moments with their neds when you realise that it's the trust between you that gets you through things, however small or big?

When you can get off the horse you are riding cos the horse you are leading needs more encouragement... And you can continue walking up the road without holding on the horse you were riding and he just walks by your side even with cars and lorries going past! (Then again I would trust this horse to walk through fire with me!)

They are shooting on the next farm and he won't go up the field on his own to find his mates.... he has to walk very close behind Mummy for moral support. Do love him even if he is a wuss.....

Not sure if its trust or the fact that he feels braver hiding behind me but I own a super wimp who regularly wets his pants at everything no matter how much bomb proof training we do. but I do adore my horse for the fact he never bolts even when something has him quaking in his boots he will snort and puff and dance on the spot trembling from top to toe but as long as good old mums there to hide behind he is going nowhere. hes the same in field if somethings spooked him into a frenzy as soon as I appear he bolts over and stands good as gold at my site awaiting a reassuring cuddle

Ditto this with my boy :0) amazing feeling when you know that they trust your judgement that they will be ok.

Yes! When I accidentally shocked her on the leci fence (lead rope touched it) she just stood there when she could have bolted, unless she was too shocked too move, I like to think she chose to stay with me though!

My girl will leave the security of the herd to come to me. Wintertime, she's at the gate anyway, but summertime I don't bother to put her headcollar on till she gets to the gate because she always follows me down the field. A couple of times I've had her stick at my side when the rest of the herd bolted at something they spotted on the motorway running alongside their field.

when you're leading your horses back to the field following the farrier! the farrier takes the baby, who's only ever been lead by me and I take the old lady and the baby looks at me as if to say "whats going on here then?" but carries on with one eye fixed to me haha!!

The fact that he lets me act like a complete moron around him and dress him up to look like an idiot.
He honestly puts up with FAR too much with me!

We were practising loading into the horse box and having come down the ramp a red bucket in the box blew over and rolled nosily down the ramp behind us. She wasn't sure at first what was causing the noise but then saw it. She was standing with all four legs bent as though half way to lie down and was shaking all over, a bit like a spider having a heart attack. But she didn't even tighten the head collar rope. When she realised it wasn't a tiger we had a close look at the bucket and some practice throwing it on the ramp and kicking it round the yard.
What fun we have.:D

Ned looks v cute.;)

I left my boy standing in the school whilst I picked up several scatterd poos.......he followed me for ten minutes like a dog, right at my back, turning on a sixpence to make sure he was right behind me the whole time :-)
