Hi everyone,

If you have time please please please have a look at The Egypt Horse Project on Facebook (link below) and leave a message of hope for Ashleigh. Cairo is in meltdown and Ash is still running medicine and trimming clinics for the street horses. Internet is patchy and her poor Mum Dianne is often frantic and kind words of hope and encouragement make all the difference - HUGE THANKS if you make it there xxx Its not all horrid pictures, some beautiful pictures of Ash in the river with the horses and we have a gorgeous Palomino stallion who is a bit of a heart breaker ♥

It will makes Ash's Mums day as well :)

My God I have just watched a youtube clip of young teenagers being thrown off a two storey high ledge onto concrete in Cairo............... horrific, Cairo is descending into total horror :(

Hi, I am watching some truly awful things on youtube now, people dying etc and I know this forum can be a bit sensitive so dont want any comeback on the horse rescue in Cairo, ie look like I asked people to go to twitter and exposed them to the horror. We are all about the horses but it is pretty horrific watching the events unfold in front of me whilst sat safe at home in the UK. Absolutely terrified for Ashleigh, she is a young australian girl on her own dealing with clinics and horses in rehab etc

Well, I could be wrong as this is just my interpretation of it, however I think that the comment
"My God I have just watched a youtube clip of young teenagers being thrown off a two storey high ledge onto concrete in Cairo............... horrific, Cairo is descending into total horror "

Was either meant to be posted from a different account, providing some sort of 'support' for the initial post or the OP may have realized that going on about "young teenagers being thrown off a two storey high ledge onto concrete" may be a tad too morbid, which may help to explain the subsequent post which starts with "Hi, I am watching some truly awful things on youtube now..."

Either way I could be totally wrong, it's just what I assumed from the given information :D

Ahh  Sorry i will blame the heat for my slow nature ;)

Wow I've just read some of the posts on that FB page. Seems to be more battles going on in Cairo than just with the Egyptians, seems that this charity is kinda miffed with the Prince Fluffy Kareem charity and they're not afraid to say so.

PS. I am sorry but I don't see anything beautiful about photos of someone riding an emaciated horse. I realise things are different out there from the Egyptian viewpoint but from a westerners point of view I find it distasteful that someone who should know better (from a civilised nation and all) would even consider getting on that horse's back.

Thank you for all the nice comments and for the lady saying about the emaciated horse, yes, you are right things are very different in other countries however a gentle ride around the menage or into the river does not harm them. No one is going out hacking, schooling etc, its a shame you didnt look further and see all the good Ash is doing. People are only miffed with PFK because they are not transparent about donations etc and cause trouble if other charities are getting donations. Before you kick off about this, I was the person who started the PFK page and left over monetary issues.

But thanks all you other lovely people, Cairo is not safe at the moment and the immediate future for these horses is not certain, we can only do our best for them.

xxxx

I'm afraid I had to comment on that pic - it was bloody awful! Why on earth would you do that to a very obviously thin horse? Yes she should know better. No doubt I will get slated or deleted for my comment...

Yes I just saw your comment, shame you didnt read a bit further, riding him into a cooling stream will do him non harm at all, I feel sorry for you that you visit a rescue page, for a country thats in the middle of a riot and make comments like that..... too busy to read what Ash is achieving out there? Perhaps you dont care, but really a young woman giving all she has in what is effectiveky a war zone and you cannot even be bothered to read the page and see what its actually all about, instead you just give her the arse end of your sharp tongue. Uncalled for madam I'm afraid.

Funny as well that you can SLATE someone and its a comment, however then whinge that you expect to get slated yourself.

For the record, this is a comment, not a slating :)

Enjoy your safe and comfortable life where you have plenty of food for your animals and thank you so much for your compassion, i expect Ash's Mum will be delighted to read your 'comment'

Thank you for all the nice comments
Are we reading the same thread?

Yes I live in a different country so I understand differences in culture. I am however British and there are certain things I would most definitely not do regardless of what country I happen to reside in. I would never dream of riding an emaciated horse period. Not even to the river and especially not around an arena.
its a shame you didnt look further and see all the good Ash is doing.
I did look further.

Kick off? To be perfectly honest I'm not really that interested in the transparency of the PFK charity or yours for that matter. PFK seem to do a very good job in educating the Egyptians and provide help and relief for the horses and I haven't seen any of them ride emaciated horses.

If you say so Lochinvar.

I still see no need to be on that poor horse's back. Just my opinion of course.

I can see what she is doing and yes it is fabulous for the horses there BUT maybe she needs to think twice sometimes?

I think you should perhaps stop and take a breather (and perhaps read the posts made, and by whom). You are potentially damaging the possible financial assistance that this charity could receive.

I am the fund raiser for this charity, you know THIS is exactly why I have asked for this post to be deleted. I have tried the forum before and it always descends into someone not understanding what Egypt is and how it is, they go to the page and make a snap judgement and a snippy comment.

Sad times when you cant be bothered to read a page properly before making a comment that makes you the person that is potentially damaging the charity.

Quite how my last comment is damaging other than you dont personally like it. I suspect anyone that takes a stance against something you have said gets this treatment as well.

Really ladies, get a grip, Cairo is a war zone, people are dying and this is what you are bothered about? Truly bizarre behaviour.

Did you all miss this bit of the post????

Spring Feather - I have apologised on the FB for apparently not caring about the danger she is in over there and about how her mum is worried for her. But I will not take back the comments about being on his back.

Apparently it's ok to get on skinny horses though and I am wrong because I have Western views and am used to overfed, fat Western horses. I give up :(

Lochinvar, For the good sake of the charity please try adopt an unhostile approach to views on here, it really won't do Ash and her charity any good.

Thank you for highlighting what this remarkable young woman is trying to achieve in extreme circumstances. It is her choice to be there and yes I have nothing but admiration for her determination and progress in just over six months. That is not to say that others who sit in comfort should be made to feel bad that they are not doing more. I am positive that on this forum there are a large number who give very generously to chosen charities.

I will follow the charity and share and really do hope that they grow and continue to make a difference to these poor horses. If I am in a position to help I won't hesitate to do so.

your apology...

"I am sad with what I see. Just paddle him from the ground then - there is no need to be on his poor back. Yes my mouth was open, with shock. For someone doing so much good you have blotted your copy book! Maybe you will think twice before you clamber aboard a skinny, rescued horse again. Good luck with what you do, I understand it is a difficult and emotional job and I know you are making a difference but please stay off the skinnies!"

Nothing about Ash's Mum and I never said your horses were fat, I said corn fed western horses ....

Please dont tell porkies, thats why things on here get out of hand...

Nicely taken out of context. THAT was not my apology, that is further down the thread if you care to look. Wow just wow... How underhand are you? Unless of course it's been deleted. I cannot be bothered to check.

And please don't call me a liar when you have got it wrong.

Cambrica, I am sorry you think I am hostile, here I was thinking I was sticking up for Ash as people were slating her, its always the same on here, you cant have a view that differs or 'calls out' others for their harsh words..... I give up and please I wasnt asking for donations, I asked for KIND words of SUPPORT and that it would Ash's Mums day as she is so worried about her daughter.... did Hedgelady really consider her words comforting to Ashleighs Mum?

Really, you are not doing the charity or Ash any good at all, you need to learn to rein it in and stop being aggressive.

Well I just read 100 odd FB comments of you criticising and making accusations about PFK...you sound very bitter for a charity doing the same job :(
