Young woman in Cairo meltdown

I am not being underhand, your post is not in the original thread so when I came back here to answer other people it couldnt be seen, but thank you for calling me underhand, nice.

We dont delete posts unless they are truly vile and threaten people and that does happen, had to delete a girl treating Ash's Mum so badly just today.

I cannot wait for admin to delete my original plea.... gosh what a way to spend your time :( Back to FB and rescue pages for me, this is worse than Mumsnet :(

LOL, although I was warned not to come hear, so there you go, I am in the wrong and should have taken heed of others after all - lesson learned.

I completely understand how her mum must feel, Crikey if that was my daughter I too would be frantic. All Im saying that as a spokesperson for the charity a little more diplomacy would be far more beneficial.
Like I say, I will follow Ash and applaude her work helping with the tack, saddlepads, meds and clinics. I too found the river photo upsetting but looking at the bigger picture can see that she is indeed making the lives of many of these horses more bearable.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one I'm afraid. I was commenting on something I saw that didn't sit comfortably with me. Maybe I was a bit harsh but it's only because I share the same passion for horses that Ash does!

This site is a terrific place to get honest opinions but sometimes you have to grow a thick skin (and I have been shot down too in the past so know how it feels) and appreciate that people will say it how it is at times. You cannot always expect everyone to agree with you - life isn't like that.

I really do hope Ash stays safe and continues her work to help those poor equines.

Agree, I don a Thick Skin Suit everytime I sign on here ;) and have been shot down in flames till I was a smoking smouldering mess :eek:

Seriously its one rule for you guys and another for the few of us that rarely make a foray on here. H&H Forum has a terrible reputation for armchair bullying (and I'm not saying thats what happened here) and I'm not surprised people need a thick skin.

I dont expect people to agree with me but also dont expect to have to keep my mouth shut if I disagree with what others have to say.

Ok but to look at things from a different angle, this post has already had over 1500 views, many of which will check out the fb page and a small number may even support (maybe financially) so think of a positive :)

No we are all just being emotional about things that mean something to us! All I can say is ignore the stuff you don't agree with and try not to take it personally. We are all just fighting our corner (maybe fighting is too strong a word but you know what I mean!).

I love this site even though I've had run ins with others on here. It may take me a day or two to get over it but sometimes I have realised that maybe I did need to see things differently.

And there is no 'us and them' on here just highly opinionated people! :)

Well fingers crossed, I'm sure nobody wants to be faced with the scenes of Cairo a couple of years ago when it was too late for many of the horses out there :(
 
Thank you, yes, thats when I first got involved, with ESMA and then set up PFK, I am dreading whats to come and because no one believes in euthanasia its a long slow death for them :(


Can I just mention that I run the twitter page on my own so perhaps 'not' somewhere most of you want to check out :)

i agree that some of you really do need to get a grip fgs

there is a young woman away from home working in a war zone trying to help horses in a completely different culture to ours , her mother must be worried sick
it must be sole distroying patching these poor horses up all the time when there are hundreds more walking past the door
it must be heartbreaking knowing you can't help them all , i don't think i could do that day after day , watching them suffer and die

that girl wants a medal the size of a frying pan for doing what she can to make life a little easier for these poor horses not a roasting for sitting on one that looks in much better condition than a lot of horse in Cairo :(

Of all the photos on their website, they get nit picked for sitting on a horse, which as said before, is probably one of the better looking/conditions horses in Cairo!

Keep it up ash and a big hug to her mum because being a mother myself I know I couldn't cope.
 
Just because the horse isn't as skinny as some of the other horses there still doesn't make it right to be on it's back! I am shocked you think it's ok to do this because it is Egypt and there are horses in a worse state than this one. What a shame :(

If someone here in the UK posted a pic like that all hell would break loose, it's happened before. I guess we all have different standards. Ash does do such good work, that is not the issue, but that is an ill judged picture to post I'm afraid.

ETS think of it this way. That horse would be an RSPCA case in this country - would you lot support anyone sitting on it? Really? I'm just thinking about the horse.

if someone in the uk posted a photo like that it would be a whole different situation and a typical horse in the uk is built different to those horses , they are never going to look well covered they are not meant to
it looks as though that horse was lead into the water and she was chucked up onto his back for a pic , maybe sitting on him for a few mins

what a shame for that girl to get a blasting for sitting on him for a few seconds

Can we pull together and really lend some HHO support for Ash and her work out there ?
 
I hear what you are saying but maybe it wasn't the best thought out posting on FB? I just don't understand that people think it's ok to get on a very obviously poor horse in a foreign country, because that's the way it is, when really it still shouldn't happen. As I said before I AM THINKING OF THE HORSE, not the person sat on him. Is that really so bad??? I guess it is... What a bad person I am :(

i can see your pov , there are horses in africa like these and they do look really poor (all of them, its rare to see any carrying weight) and the reality is that is normal (the one she is sat on obv not the ones further down that look like a curtain hanging on a washing line) to those living in that country

and you are right if it was someone in the uk sitting on a horse like that i'd join you in your outrage but it makes such a difference that he is in Egypt

just hope everyone stays safe over there
 
Thank you for that Lochinvar. He is positively fat compared to some of those poor souls over there. A much better picture but I still feel he needs to not have weight on him just yet. A lovely job done by Ash - that has never been the issue for me.
 
This forum is so silly and petty sometimes.

You guys critisise the OP and then call her hostile when she has the audacity to call you out on it?

This place really is the worst of the horse world some times I have never known a forum like it.
