Thought this might be interesting to read...

I just wondered what horse related ambitions you have had and fulfilled and what ambitions you'd still like to achieve, be it in the near or distant future...

Ambitions past...
- Getting an Equine degree at Writtle
- Buying a traditional coloured

Ambitions for the future...
- Ride on the beach
- Show affiliated, with some success
- Restore my confidence and trust in Freddie, including hacking
- Bring him up to be an uncomplicated, well rounded 'take you anywhere' horse
- Do a hunter trial

I have others too but these are what I see as realistic at the moment... I'm sure as time goes by I will add more to my list.

your coloured is gorgeous, i love a trad coloured. lurve his two-tone-tail and his snazzy markings!

umm, ambitions achieved:
3-day eventing, going clear round our first 3-star, getting placed at Intermediate, 2*, and Advanced, producing very sweet but untalented homebred to 2*.
finding an amazing dr trainer to demystify it all!

ambitions for the future:
find a horse good and tough enough to get to 4-star before i despair and give up!
winning an Advanced.
getting to 3* again, and then 4*.
getting to dressage nationals and not looking like a fish out of water!
improve my riding.

past:
have my own horse aftrer years of being in a RS

future:
buy a youngster to bring on and event at a local level.

I never thought I wanted to compete but D is such a genuine little horse that she's given me a huge amount of confidence and I feel ready for a bigger challenge.

Aw thank you

I'm glad you like him.

Past:
Compete in my first showing & dressage class
To improve my horses schooling and help him become more confident out hacking

Future:
To sort this cantering lark out :P
To compete successfully at novice level dressage and ridden showing
To improve my confidence.

Ooh blimey, good idea for a post.

I think it's nice to look back at what you have achieved, as well as looking forward to what you WANT to achieve.

For me, past ambitions now reached would be mainly competition focussed: to train a horse from scratch to compete BE without looking like a muppet, ditto BD, and not to get terrified by a course of SJs.

Future: to complete a 1* 3 day event (will find out whether that is achieved in the next 3 weeks!)

and ride at Intermediate. I think the SJ fears I have so far conquered might come back to haunt me though.

I'm also itching to have a bash at Medium BD. And, of course, to learn as much as I can along the way.

Past ambitions were to go intermediate eventing. Never made it. Now I know I wont do it, lost the determination, and my ambitions are to have fun and not feel under pressure!

I hope I will continue to learn ! Fun is ok by me!

So my ambition is to have fun and enjoy my horses whatever path that may take!

Past Ambitions
-To become a successful international 3 day eventer.
-To own my own talented horse.

Future Ambitions
-To event - at the moment make it to BE90 (might take a while...) but eventually 3 day all the way to 4*!
-To own a few more horses - but financially not a good option at the moment - how does everyone afford a string of competition horses?
-To improve my riding and have a classical seat

Got a long way to go, but I really want to be a successful and recognised rider and trainer

Wow, everyone's achieved so much!

Past ambitions:
-To improve my seat and confidence (achieved)
-Ride more challenging horses and ponies (achieved)
-Become a professional horse whisperer / natural horsewoman (still working on that)

Future ambitions:
-Finally get my traditional coloured cob (it's only been nearly 18 years since I swore I'd own one lol)
-Open a yard similar to the ILPH to help with the many ill-treat and abandoned horses

Oh dear

Past Ambitions:
-To actually have a horse of my own 9well ,she's on loan but it still counts)
-To enter a dressage competition and win a rosette

Future ambitions:
- To win a rosette (for anything) on my own horse
- To learn to jump properly
- To have a sane sound horse!

I used to want to be a 4* 3-day eventer. (as a child I wanted to be a racing driver nurse, go figure

)

Now I want to own a livery yard, bring on a youngster and compete my mare at local SJ, maybe get a more experienced horse (in years and years and years to come

) and do some higher level SJ.

Past

To buy a young gypsy cob, bring on to be a good all rounder
To compete at a county show

Future

To qualify and attend RIHS
To get round a 3' WH course with Chancer

Have achieved the first two, though still work in progress

Just missed RIHS Q this year by one place, so fingers crossed for next year and we can get over a 2'6 course just about - my riding rather than his ability and we can clear 2'9 no problem on a single fence which is high enough for the moment at we are only starting out.

Past:

Get a horse

Future:

Get a better horse. Go eventing to 1* level. (hahaha maybe one day) I'm sure current horse is more than capable, he just cant be arsed with the big jumps. Or any jumps at all in fact!

Not sure about past ones as I set myself new goals as I achieve them
wink.gif
My main biggest goal was always to do a 1* which I did this year. I really wanted to do Blair CCI* though which I didnt do in the end and regret it
