4th at the area festival finals at the BD Winter Champs in 2006 at Novice. We got 70% from the judge at C and she had us as the winner. Definitely the best feeling in the world. Pics in my signature.

That was with my first horse and he got to Medium. Now got my 2nd and hoping he will be better - aiming for Advanced Medium. Not sure much higher is realistic as he's only a Welsh Cob, albeit one with v nice paces. Hoping to have a baby warmblood in the future and go to top hat and tails.

My dream for the last 5years at least has been to compete at Eridge Horse Trials and with the help of the introduction of a new intro class this year we entered and completed, my proudest moment so far, it certainly wasn't easy but the most worthwhile things never are.

As to future plans I feel a bit lost but know that I definately want to improve and progress eventing, in fact to get placed and win a rosette would be nice!!

With regards to being my best horse, Red is certainly that at the moment he has taught me sooo much including some stickability!! In the future who knows what may come along!

What a brilliant post and as someone said, we should do this again in a few years to see if we've all achieved what we'd hoped to.

I'm older than most on here, but only started eventing at 26 when I bought a 5yo called William Hill.
As a 6yo he won Denes Novice Champs for 5 and 6yos (beating Pippa into 2nd)

, 3rd H&H Novice Rider Champs, 3rd Stora Timber Dressage with Jumping Champs, qualified for National Dressage Champs at Novice (when they used to be held at Goodwood - yep, I really am that old!)

As a 7yo he was 4th in his first two star at Osberton, won at Foxhunter level and was 2nd at novice level at the winter dressage champs.
As an 8yo he was 6th at advanced, 1st and 2nd at OI level. As a 9yo he was a bit average

, 9th at advanced and 37th at Blenheim (had a stop - oops).

As a 10yo he was 6th, 7th, 11th advanced and 20th at Bramham - and I got a letter from the chairman of the selectors saying "we will be watching with interest in the future!"

As a 10yo it all went a bit pear-shaped, he won an AI, was 6th advanced and got half way round Badders before stopping twice at the simplest fence (having done the coffin, quarry, water etc). We were flummoxed as to what was wrong with him, but found out 18 months later that his immune system was stuffed after he'd had strangles, and I could never get him to 3/4 star level of fitness again.

So he became what they call a "one day specialist", and in 1991 won Bishop Burton advanced and Wilmslow AI, then in 2000 won Poplar Park AI and the £1000 advanced class at Belton.

He was most definitely my best horse, and is now OH's best hunter at the grand old age of 22.

Plans for the future: not that I'm greedy, but I want to get to Badminton and get all the way round this time. Don't care if it's Hector or HumungaHorse - both would be really good -before I'm too geriatric to want to do it any more.

Other than that, to keep enjoying the sport and my ponies, and to have lots of fun.

My biggest achievement to date is winning my first ODE last year (I feat I can gurantee will not be repeated!), I was nearly in tears (

honest!) I was so happy that my little heffalump had been so clever! It was only 2ft6-2ft9

We don't do big jumps!

I would love to get another horse and try my hand at "proper" eventing, but until Hen plus one can be funded I will remain doing 2ft9, because......

Hen is my bestest horsey! He may not be everyones idea of a "good" horse but to me he is priceless! He gave me my confidence back, and he never fails to make me smile
grin.gif
I look forward to every second I can spend with him. He's great fun, safe and reliable, without being the least bit boring! And the idea of having another horse scares me to death, because I know they will never live up to Hen, and what if I'm pants and it's only my clever pony that saves my bacon!

Biggest achievement probably was many years ago bought a little horse for a few hundred pounds and the next year she was jumping for a national title in the international arena at Hickstead. Had only jumped unaffiliated til I bought her and owe that little horsey so much. She always tried even when the jumps were too big for her and was never cross or unco-operative. She was kept at a DIY yard, exercised mainly on a local open area and ended up jumping against people the Whittakers bless her little cotton socks. Whilst have had greater success with another horse since she was probably the start of realising that you just get out there and give it a go even if you don't have the facilities or money that others may have.
