Your height and your horses height...

I'm 5'5" ish and have a 15.3hh. I can get on from the ground but wouldn't choose to (the one time I did I had to get on PDQ!). I used to ride an 18.2hh and struggled to get on from the mounting block!! Smallest I have ridden was a 12hh when I was about 12yrs, and even then I could just about "step" over the pony to get on!
 
I'm 5'7" and my horse is now 16hh and hopefully will make 16.2hh/ 16.3hh. I never get on from the floor as even on OH 15hh cob I struggle

I'm 5'2" and pony's 13.2hh (built like a bull!).

Once in an equitation class the judge wanted everyone to dismount and mount again - I had a distinct advantage!

5ft 4 and Governor is nearly 16.3hh...

I can get on from the ground, and don't have much trouble riding him...most of my height is in my legs thankfully.
 
I'm just under 5ft 8 and I have just bought a 17.1 / 17.2hh.

When I tried her out, I got on her from a mounting block and still lowered my stirrups!

Oh and if I chose to I could get on from the ground but I don't choose so they both stand patiently by wall, mounting block, gate, fence etc etc till I get on - good boys! Can't stand fidgets when you are trying to get on!

I can't get on anything over 13.2hh from the ground because I have crap knees and my left knee usually gives out mid mount and I fall flat on my arse

5 foot 5 and the all important 1/2! And Hal is 16.1, can get on from the ground, although it's a bit of a struggle since going to university as I've been transformed into a lazy student!
 
5'6 and ride 15.3 hh use mounting block, better for his back and iff i do have to get off i try to find log or smmit, if not run stirrup down and scramble on !!!
 
I am 5ft 6" and my mare is 15.2. I think I look a bit big for her in photos but she feels ok. I found out on Saturday that I can get on from the ground (well the verge!) I dropped my whip and had to retreive it, was quite surprised I managed it

5ft7 or 5ft8 now sure... and ride anything from 13.2hh upward.

(Current biggest is a 16.3hh WB)

But my girl is only 14.1hh, cob type.

Feel comfortable on anything that can carry my weight. (Bout 9 st)
 
I'm 5'7, Gyp is 15.1hh cob and Hattie is 15.3hh cob. I also ride 15.3hh tb, 16.3hh tb, 16.2hh hunter, 16.1hh eventer type and 17hh eventer type.

I can get on all from the ground but the 15.3hh tb as she can't be mounted from the ground, but prefer not to as it doesn't help my back.
 
I'm 5'5",my Fell is 13hh and I also ride my daughter's 13.3hh pony. I have been known to get on her 12hh Forester (built like the proverbial outhouse) but she scares the sh1t out of me cos she's so naughty.
I confess to using mounting blocks etc,but that's because I was told it was better for their backs (and saddles)
