Your height and your horses height...

I'm 5ft 7[almost 5ft 8]
maddie is 15.2, but i have had bad back problems and am very stiff so i use a mounting block where possible don't mind riding from the ground.
I will happily ride any horse of any height i've done shetlands to and 18.2 clydesdale!

infact, when i was on a riding holiday last summer, i rode a 17hh horse..he was a dream and so easy to controll!
 
I am 5ft 3in and a bit (that bit is the most important part

) and my girl was 16.2 hh last time i checked. I can find it difficult to get on her from the ground, she has been taught to stand still next to gates, walls, big stones, anything I can use.
