We're always posting about the loveable things our horses do but what about the things that drive you nuts? The annoying habits that you'd rather they didn't have?
Hovis has a few!
Dribbling molasses and spit down my back when I'm getting his feed bucket out of the stable
Deliberately wedging his head right under the stable chain to have a scratch and expecting me to get him loose
Being the filthiest horse on the yard so thus always looking like i never groom him.
Not picking his feet up in walk when he's tired thus making a pootle back to the yard an exercise in balance control!

What habits does your horse(s) have that drive you nuts?

cantering off after I've put the headcollar on & trailing his rope through the mud. I usually have to catch my other horse first to lure him in.

Desi - weaves/boxwalks when in on his own - hence, never in on his own...
Poppy - stands in her feed bucket/grooming box
Storm - gnashes her teeth at anything that comes vaguely near her, but never actually bites and is really loving when no-one is looking.

Sometimes when she doesnt want to get ridden she runs away when i get the bridle out(shes not scared of it or anything), she rolls in all the muddiest bits of the field, rolls if you ride the same day she is clipped, headbutts if you ignore her, squahes me against the fence when pulling her mane, gives me kisses after she eats her dinner(and STINKS of garlic) and she lets herself out of the stable to eat the haynets made for later, even if she has one in the stable lol she does lots of cheeky things.

Starts pooing if I just go and put my head through the grooms door of the trailer (whilst still in its parking place). By the time I've got the trailer hitched up to the car and in position, there are at least another 3 poos in the stable (each a bit sloppier), then he somehow manages to do at least another couple in the trailer. Why oh why he gets soooo het up about it I have no idea.

Drags his toes now steep hills, very annoying.

Is hypersensitive to the tiniest of green flies landing on his bum, yet strangley completely dead to the leg when he just can't be bothered.

The Big Horse
Pulling up the electric fence posts and letting everyone out.
Chewing his rope.

The Pony
Checking everyday to see if I have left the feed room door open. As if after 29 years with him I would be that stupid.

The Girl
Whinnying and chatting on all the time. A whinny hello and a whinny goodbye is all that is needed.

skye can be a bit clumbsy and i am sure she stands on my feet on purpose but is perfect other than that. toby is just a pest i should have called him denis as he is a mense pulles rugs of the rug racks and if he gets them in his stable he pee's on them, pushes everything of his stable walls, drags his teeth up and down the rails in his stable, eats haynets could go on and on. blaze is just very cheeky and bein hand rear is frigtened from nothing. archie is atypical shetland. rosie is handy with her back legs if she doesn't get her own way

P*ssing off when he's being led (that god for chifneys!) and refusing to let me plait his forelock are probably the ones that bug me most.

Wiggles his nose when putting the bridle on because he doesn't like the noseband touching his nose, by doing so the nosebands starts touching his nose which makes him sneeze all over my face.

Chewing everything thats left on the stable door/field gate for more that 2 seconds.
Bashing me on the boob when he wants attention.
Sneaking up on me when im poo-picking and scratching against me, causing me to fall into aforementioned poo.
Tipping poo filled wheelbarrow over.
Demolishing the fencing.
And recently he has taken to eating his field shelter. It now has a window in the back wall.

Wanting to stop and talk to everyone, be it out hacking or when I'm in the ménage or being tied up, soon as he eyes someone he thinks its an invitation to either walk over and stick his nose in and be the centre of attention, if he doesnt get it, he starts pawing and doing something mischievous, one day he picked up half a bucket of water in his mouth, empted half of it then lifted it to me, tilted his head, shuck the bucket and proceeded to throw water all over me when I'd finished rinsing his legs off, my friend couldn't stop laughing and said he knew exactly what he was doing, hence why he emptied some of the water out so he could lift it up higher and tip it on me!

Mine does a begging for treats"waggle" with her fron leg, like a dog giving a paw. This is cute when watching from a distance, but an absolute pain when I'm trying to put her girth on and she's waggling her front leg around in the air!

The also tries to toss her head up in the air when getting her bridle on, but she's only 15.2, so not as bad as if she were bigger!

She is also a master of tipping over unsupervised poo-filled wheelbarrows and likes to create an "Amy Winehouse" effect on her tail by rubbing her bum on her haynet!

I love her really though!
