Out hacking on my old gelding all alone and totally away with the fairies, holding the reins at the buckle, he did the most silly little spook at gawd only knows what and I just slipped out the side door, but because I wasn't concentrating I let him go and he took off for home, luckily he had no roads to cross but he cantered all the way home without me which left me running behind with my hat on, crop in my hand and when I got back to the yard knackered he was standing by the yard gate waiting to go in, I didn't alf get some strange looks running down the lane with mud up my backside and my riding gear on ! What's your most "treasured" falling off memory

Probably going right over the horse getting on bareback. Would have been funny if it hadn't resulted in a week in hospital rebuilding my arm

. My surgeon is involved in racing and thought prehaps I should tell people I fell off racing so it wasn't so embarassing

My first ever fall! In the pony lines in the traditional saturday morning lesson, I was doing "around the world" and at the crutial moment of swinging back into the saddle, Lucky (*sighs*), the little dun mare I was riding did a full body shake.... i went straight over the side landed on my back with lucky and the next horse, rob, looking down at me with a "what the....!?" look on their faces. I burst out laughing. I was so glad later that that was my fall as it meant i wasn't scared of falling off for a long time.... well untill I stopped bouncing anyway!

In front of my new boyfriend, twice in one session, in the end i had him leading me round while i sat there and cryed like a brat!!
Soooo embarassing. In the 7 years that iv owned my mare iv hardly ever fallen off then i go and do it 3 times in like 2 weeks infront of the OH!! Oh the shame

Tendering Hundred Show, The Working Hunter class!!!! I was dumped over a small fence (compared to the 17hh it was tiny) silly thing was he didnt even look at the fence he was too busy oggling at something in the hedge!

I have 2,
one when I was riding my friends mare and we were in walk, her head went down and i just rollipolied down her neck and landed on the floor, quickly turned around to make sure there was no traffic and obviosuly there was a massive queue all laughing at me.

And the other was at college and i was riding a college horse, well the yard managers horse and we just did n't get on and after 5 munutes of bucking and cantering, and after a pretty spectacular "power buck" i flipped off, flipped 180, kept my body totally straight, hit the ground and i thought "what the hell was that...oh that was me!" got up and realised i still had my whip in my hand.

I had a new boyfriend, and was basically showing off....got on mounting block to get on my horse, foot in stirrup...god only knows what I did then, but fell off trying to get on. Sprained my knee....looked an idiot.....have different boyfriend now lol

Was at local PC show warming up for show jumping. Th elast time my old DC had seen Charlie he would stop at everything and buckme off 24/7. I was telling her how much better he was now and then completly out of the blue he did a huge buck resulting in me sittin on my bum in mud!
I did forgive him though as he won the class and got placed in the other 2.

Mine was probably falling off when I was looking at a horse to buy (not George I hasten to add!), i decided to pop over a tiny 1ft fence and the horse must have jumped 4ft and I landed smack on my face, my nose then bled profusely over the owners cream jods! I drove 20miles home feeling totally embaressed to discover I'd broken my nose and broken and dislocated a finger!!

My friend had just been bucked off her pony while on a hack, so i offered to get on it, it was a 13.2hh New Forest mare. I went to get on and as i put my swung my leg over she swung round so quickly i went rollypolly straight over the top and landed on my back! Made my friend stop crying from tears and start crying from laughing so much

OOO I do have another.... after saying 'ah you can never fall off her' I preceeded to jump a 3ft double and stay on, turn the corner at the same time she spooked, depositing me right on the floor! LMAO

Mine was a few years ago, eventing. The first season I started Novice. I had a cr@p SJ as they were running really late and I got myself in a state about it. Then loads of people were getting slotted in before me while I was warming up for XC and I was getting so stressed out. Ollie Townend was trying to get slotted in, and I had a major huff, so he asked whether I was going next or not. I said I was... and then promptly fell off at the 3rd fence. Oooops!

Whilst getting on!!

Little git stepped to the left as I swung over the sadde and I swung clean over him!

The barn was mercifully empty!!

I've just remembered another

, when I was learning to ride and because I was so little I used to get put on this horrid shetland ( I know their not all horrid!) and one day ,during a lesson it decided to make dash for the water trough at the opposite end of the indoor school , it galloped up to it , stuck it's head in and I tumbled down his neck and fell in the trough !!
blush.gif
, I was soaked and had to go home in the car wrapped in plastic bags

My son did a classic, we rode the horses to my mum/dads house and he was showing off to them standing up in the stirrups, pony standing completely still, ducked her head down and pulled him clean over her head, that curbed his showing off.

i was getting ready to do the local x country i was so nervous that i got on a fell off the otherside

My son when he was younger was out hacking on my mare and turned round to talk to his freind and got knocked off by a tree branch,he has never lived it down poor man

One neice fell off at Pony Club whilst doing x country and landed on her bottom in fresh sheep poo! The other neice had been part of Pony Club parade in main ring of County Show and pony had behaved - just outside the ring pony did shake (bored of behaving!) and neice slithered off on to floor! We were all laughing at her and told her to get back on - lots of tuts from non horsey people who thought we were being to hard on her!!

i fell off at college at the end of last term. Horse i was jumping jumped abour 6 ft higher than the fence the first time, came around the second time, and did the same and i came off out the side door, and winded myself, my friends all said i was making very strange noises and rolling on the floor!! i could not breath thats why!! Did not help i then had to go by ambulance to a and e as i could not walk! opps!

i was riding my cob bareback next to a churned rocky feild and my horse spooked and shot forwards and i slipped backk onto his bum and he jumped forward again and ran through the feild next to us, I fell off but i was still holding onto the reins for some stupid reason lol and as i was being dragged my trouser came down which was when i decided to let go. He found a patch of grass and stopped to eat so he was easy to catch

when i was on holis down in wexford we got 2 pick what horse we wanted at a treckin centre (of course me being only 8 wanted the biggest one there) so i couldnt get on from the ground, the girl told me 2 get on the mounting block so i did, still couldnt get on cos i was 2 small so the girl then said "jump" so i jumped and went straight off the other side wit out even touchin the horse lmao! (is the even classed as a fall) lol

another one was when i was about 14 me and my sister were breakin 2 wee 11 handers for my cuz, she didnt have a saddle so we done things bareback lol things were goin well and i asked for a canter, the pony hadnt a clue wat i was on about and bucked and i came off the side door and landed on an electric fencer post, blood pissin out my side lol

my most embarassing fall was when i was teaching my little nephew on my welsh section A in my sig. he was being very naughty and i got on him to get him going and he just bucked several times and then reared and bucked and i came flying of worse thing was my brother and sister in law where standing watching and they still winde my up about it several years later.
grin.gif

My sistster has our best one, although it was the horse that was embarassed. Sister is 5' 9" mare a very stocky 14.3 piebald cob. Mare took exception to a piece of old carpet at the side of the lane, on the way home, probably no more than 500 yards left to go. Mare did sideways jump and fell over her own feet, sister fell off down mares shoulder, and then proceeded to climb off the floor using the mares leg to steady herself. If that mare could have spoken she would have asked what this strange woman, who she had never seen before in her life, was doing crawling up her leg
grin.gif
We all still laugh about it, and I think the mare still blushes to remember it.

I was doing dressage on my cowbag mare a couple of years ago & as we cantered round the end of the arena I lost control of our speed & couldn't get her round the corner. She jumped the arena boards kinda sideways & dumped me out of the side door. I was sat on the ground trying not to cry (no pain just sheer embarisment!) as the judge (who is a lovely lady) came out of the shed & shouted ''are you o.k? Would you like to get back on & finish the test?''. I might have been tempted to get back on if it hadn't been at the yard I'm stabled on. The dressage comps there are always busy & every man & his dog were there that day. I was like this

for about a week afterwards. Stupid horse!

Fortunately I don't make a habit of it, but the last twice involved very public hunting falls ( both times the horse went down) and a great deal of disgusting mud/slurry mix! Being the afternoon entertainment is all part of the fun I guess.
smile.gif
Apart from a busted up shoulder, twice, no harm done.

Mine was in the middle of a hunter trial.

Ponio was being unbelievably argumentative (even by his standards!) and eventually decked me in front of a load of jump judges about fence 8 or 9. I went straight over his head and took the reins with me. I swear that Ponio looked at me, smirked, tossed his head so the bridle came off completely and then galloped off back the way we came. I assumed he'd have gone straight back to the lorry diagonally across the main field but no, the little sod did the ENTIRE course backwards, on his own, bucking all the way (he had to do two sides of a triangle to do that and he could have very easily gone straight across the field diagonally??
confused.gif
crazy.gif
) I wouldn't have minded so much except he'd been a little sod and pretended he was scared of all the jumps with me but could easily do them alone??!! It didn't help that the nice stewards eventually caught him with polos and various horse treats so I came back after a half mile walk to find a pony looking annoyingly pleased with himself...

The worst bit though was when another competitor came up to me afterwards and said, "Wow, your pony is such a good jumper, now you just need to teach him to jump with you on board!"

At the Area Pony Club SJ qualifier at Cheltenham Racecourse....I developed an aversion to fence three (a big blue oxer with scary fillers) and sure enough, Ellie dug her toes in when she sensed I didnt want to jump it...I went over her head in slow motion, but had forgotten that my white jods were see-through....the other competitors (including a lad I had a HUGE crush on
blush.gif
) were all treated to the sight of my huge, teddy-bear-knicker clad backside struggling desperately - and failing - to get back into the saddle....

My very first time on the spooky pony, at a walk, with his owner actually leading him. It was his first time being ridden in about a year and he was a bit tenderfooted after his first trim in a few months, so I was sitting on him like on a raw egg...and he spooked at something (maybe a dead rabbit? Not sure.) and dumped me in a puddle.

He got loose and trotted off, stopping to graze every once in a while, and heading off again when he saw us coming. Eventually headed down to the main road, looked both directions before turning onto it, and turned up the driveway to his own field.

Mine was when i was turning my pony out in the field. I have had her 11 years and this was the 2nd time i have come off her!

I had made 'reins' out of her lead rope and attached it to her head collar, and rode her bare back with no hat to the field.

I was day dreaming and she did a massive shy, i went straight round her neck and ended up sitting on my bum in front of her legs! It happened so quickly!- I really hope no-one saw!!
