Hi, I received one of these for xmas as I want to get into some long distance riding next year. It wasnt quite as I expected - I was thinking it was going to be webbing like a libbys one not patent type of thing. Are they good or shall I change it? Presumbably you just wipe them clean? Do they crack or go "brittle" as they feel like they will!!! Also I need to get some reins to go with it what sort does anyone recommend? thanks!

I have a few of these for years They are brilliant, wear very well, just throw them in a bucket of water to wash them. One of the best on the market.

They do reins to match.

Reins to match or if you are not keen on rubber reins have a look at plaited webbing rope reins. Google Performance Equestrian to have a look at your options.

What colour did you get?!

I prefer the 'biothane' style bridles than the webbing - they last longer and look smarter for longer.

Zilco is a high quality brand, so your bridle should last a long time and is easily re-sellable.

I have smaller hands and find rubber grip reins too bulky. I much prefer the plaited rope reins from Performance Equestrian - I also use a pair as a double dog lead:)

Thanks for the replies. I choose Zilco as I understood they were the "best" and I am pleased to know that my initial thoughts/feelings are unfounded! Its just a bit different after having leather bridles! I got black as like to match my saddle and its for my 4 year old who I broke last year and have turned away til early spring, poor fella up until now he has had a bridle made up of odds and sods so xmas present for both of us!!!
I have small hands too so thanks for the advice I will look at the alternative reins.
