Adding shine after shampooing a dark bay

In the old days the best way to get a good sheen on a dark horse was to put a pair of tights over your dandy brush and it lifts all of the dust and grease from the coat leaving it nice and shiny!

    Trailers for 18hh+ horses

I used to get my two Irish Draughts in a Richardson Supreme Excel. He was 18hh and she is 17:2hh. Plenty headroom, plenty width.

where could I try an australian stock or western saddle in Yorks

Try Maureen Webb of Horsemanshipsaddlery.co.uk. I recently had a swinging fender stock saddle made to measure and the quality is fantastic for about £800. She will measure you and your horse and guide you through a bespoke saddle order. Far more comfortable than the Kimberley Aussie Stock...

Gutted - my little 4yo has arthritis

I know how you feel and sympathise. My 7 year old is in the same position. I had him bone scanned and X-rayed to reveal arthritis in both hocks, sacro iliac region, front right foot and right jaw. How this has occurred no-one knows. I decided just to retire him and let him bimble around in...

    Air vests & airlines question

Brilliant, thank you! You seem to be the only person who knows. Thanks also for the good trip wishes - I am going over to ride a 5 year old mare that I bred and exported as a 2 year old, so really excited.

    Air vests & airlines question

Hi H & H People, I am flying to France later this week for a riding holiday. I have just rung the airline and got absolutely no sense out of their help desk. So, rather than have my Hit Air confiscated at security can I take the gas canister out and just put a new one in when I get over to...

Best 4x4 with most value for money for towing?

Isuzu D-Max 3.5 tonne pulling power! Pulls my Irish Draughts in a Richardson Supreme Excel like there is nothing there. Had a Toyota Hilux before and the D-Max knocks it into a cocked hat.

    Anti theft devices

Tracker.co.uk - your local mechanic should be able to fit one. They cost around £500 for a lifetime registration (might be a bit more as mine was fitted to a vehicle 5 years ago). If your battery is disconnected or any odd movement of the vehicle they ring you immediately & police cars scan...

Knowledgable car people.... Reversing trailer + smoke!

When I got a new car they advised not to tow before having around 650-1,000 miles on the clock. Sounds like it has been put under too much pressure too early. New cars need time to 'loosen' before being made to work hard.

Travelling 3yo in a trailer for the first time - thoughts?

Don't Overthink or worry about it. Me & my friend have bred many youngsters and sold them resulting in them travelling prodigious distances. The main thing is to teach them to load calmly and that travelling is a good experience with nice hay/haylage & nothing to worry about. My friends...

    Tow vehicle help- need guts!

I have a Richardson Supreme Excel & tow 2 Irish Draughts 17hh and 16hh - Isuzu D-Max 3.5 ton pulling power the only car with enough guts for a big trailer & big horses. I used to have a Toyota Hilux but it only had 2.5 ton pulling power, so not enough for my horses. Love the D-Max a real work...

Attn HHO shoppers... looking for an x-full bridle

I have a hand made XL bridle that was my 18hh heavyweight RID geldings. I had it hand made by Patrick Wilkinson of Beverley. I lost my lovely boy 3 years ago to leukaemia and it's sitting in my tack room. It is a plain hunter bridle with a 2 " cavesson - pm me if you think it might be what...
