    Disposal of loan horse

My 22 year old little horse has just gone on loan. If he has to be PTS I, as the owner will pay for that and his disposal cost. The loaner has to pay all other vet expenses. It's in the BHS loan contract that I used. I am happy with that.

    Lead biting

Ok if a chain lead is so offensive then clip two soft leather leads to collar. As soon as dog takes hold of one drop it and use the other one and so on. That way dog will have nothing to pull on and will be getting nothing out of it. Also it will be safe as you always have hold of one lead...

    Fuming...what an unprofessional horse dealer

That is horrible for you. your probably better off out of it by the look of things. Maybe Mary Porter (secret Shopper) should do horse dealers/livery yards. Wouldn't that make interesting telly.

    Lead biting

Dogs tend not to like tugging on a chain lead.

Would love to pin, prod, electrocute, force etc. Cesar Milan

Yes. This is my point exactly which people seem totally blind to. He regularly uses pronged collars and shock treatment on basic training cases. I believe in the USA spiked collars and shock treatment are sold openly in pet shops so am not surprised he uses them as a matter of course. I...

I don't understand the comparisons made between CM and Parelli. Parelli, as far as I know has never used spiked bridels or collars on horses. He has never used, as far as I know electric shock treatment either, so to make comparisons is unrealistic. If these methods truly worked in the long...

Why do you assume that everyone who disagrees with this mans out-dated and often inhumane methods are "arm chair" trainers? how incredibly patronising, arrogant and short sited. Spiked/pronged collars, electric shock collars, scruffing etc have no place in modern day dog training. The dogs...

Another fan of Marc Rashid. All his books are fab. My advice, buy the first and work your way through the rest. Enjoy.

Oh, and you will be self employed

This is a very interesting thread. I have often thought that this practice was dodgy but I am no expert and definitely don't know any facts. However, on the yard my horse is at, the grooms have set hours and pay by the yard owner but they say they have to be self employed. Doesn't seem very...
