My mare had a bald patch on her mane from her rug rubbing so I massaged coconut oil into the roots a couple of times a week. It probably helped that I did this over spring but she now has about 4-5 inches of growth and its really soft!
My mare is a sensitive soul and I got a bit lady out to give us some advice re bitting. Turns out she has a huge fleshy tongue so now has a bit that curves around her tongue rather than sits on top. Shes been much happier since. I also bought the equilibrium nose net which works really well...
Yes I have seen them advertised on Facebook and thought they looked lovely quality, glad to hear from someone that has actually seen them in the flesh! Think I will give them a try! Thank you :)
Hello!
I am looking for a new bridle (black) for my sensitive mare. I have seen the ones where the straps run over the top of the bridle rather than underneath which I like the idea of. Not too worried about price, under £100 would be wonderful but I do not mind spending extra if it is worth...
I agree with the above! I can barely afford to keep myself fed at uni and I work 10 hours a week (the very most I can do and keep on top of uni work), get a little pocket money from my parents and my student loan. You say your parents won't drive you but if you're about to go into sixth form...
I was in pretty much your exact position about 6 months ago! Just keep getting lunge lessons so you can concentrate on your seat and leg positioning without worrying about what the horse is doing. Also see if you can do at least 10 mins work without stirrups at the beginning of each lesson...
Hey everyone,
So I've just arranged to see a horse for share, this is the first time I've done something like this so I'd love some advice! Are there any questions I should ask?
TIA!
Smile, arrive 15 mins early, don't drink any caffeine before as this can make you shaky especially when nervous, shake their hand and just be yourself! Even for my grad job interview they just wanted to make sure they liked me as a person especially for jobs like this where team work is...
I've seen a lot of ads on preloved and specific fb pages with people looking to ride! Might be worth having a look on there. Or ask local tack shops if you can put up an ad on the door? Not sure if where you are is near a Uni but there might be an equestrian society with students who have left...
Well done! The first time getting over that fear with anything is always the hardest, your confidence can only increase now! Hope the next hack goes just as well if not better :D
