    Bates saddles for thoroughbreds

I have a Bates Inova for my TB and we love it. Had it fitted by saddler who deals in Bates and I can honestly say it's one of the best dressage saddles I've ridden in. Puts you in a great position and my horse is going fantastically. He is ex polo, fairly high withered and light/middle weight...

one sided horse - shoulder lameness??

The difference in him now is amazing. Immediately after the op though he actually looked worse and felt terrible when I first started riding him. BUT, the vet was very keen to stress that you must allow the full three months recovery for this op before making any judgement on whether or not it...

one sided horse - shoulder lameness??

I'm in Surrey so probably too far for vet. We had an Op in October 2012. Had that on a Monday, brought him home the Tuesday lunch time. Think he had about 2 weeks full box rest with dressings and bandages over the operation sites (which were tiny as key hole and now can't even see the scar)...

one sided horse - shoulder lameness??

Also when I watched my boy on the lunge he moved easier one way than he did the other and when the vet told me what he was really looking at it was obvious. One one rein, he moved more slowly, more reluctantly and I almost had to chase him to get him to move on properly. The rythm was also not...

one sided horse - shoulder lameness??

He was stiff on the right and heavier that side in the contact when being ridden, sometimes even tilting his head very slightly left, resulting in me trying to flex him back! It felt like his neck was stiff and he couldn't bend it towards the right properly. The bone scan only showed up the...

one sided horse - shoulder lameness??

I would be more inclined to go with something behind affecting his movement...you mention TI scans which brought up heat in stifle, hock, shoulder and saddle area. My boy had an on/off lameness for some time (many months in fact). When I say lame, he wasn't hoping, just not quite right and...

    Can I return this? (Robinsons)

I have the exact same bridle from them, used regularly for well over a year with no problems at all so would suggest that there is something wrong with yours. If I was you I'd take it back and speak to them. They are usually pretty good.

Livery? West End, Chobham, Bisley area?

I have just moved my horse to Berrylands in Pirbright. It has all of the facilities you are looking for with hacking over the Pirbright ranges and Lauren who runs it has been really great with my boy. Have a look at her facebook page.

    Neurectomy experiences

Is he lame in front or behind? My boy had double neurectomy on his hind suspensories 18 months ago, aged 15 and hes come back absolutely flying. He'd been struggling with intermittent lameness although I'd describe it as more "not right" rather than lame for at least three years and two vets...

Moved my boy yards but he has stopped eating his feeds...HELP!

I moved my boy on 1st Dec and he has only just started eating properly again within this last week. I think it is the stress of a new situation, new routine, new friends etc etc. My horse isn't really a foodie anyway but I just cut it right down so that he wasnt overwhelmed with too much food...

    Tb opening mouth when ridden?

My TB was also like this and we put him in a hanging cheek which really seemed to help. He was previously in a loose ring, and the thought was that that the ring might be pinching him a little as they moved around. With the hanging cheek, the bit is steadier in his mouth and he is now...

Any Darley horse or Ex-Racer owners that can offer advice for a potential owner?

Another vote for Equivivre - I shall be looking for an ex-racer soon as my current boy is pretty much semi retired and they have been really helpful. Responded almost straight away and said they would be more than happy to help me find the right one when I was ready to look. Good luck

    Livery in Pirbright/Worplesdon/Bisley/Brookwood/West End etc

Halebourne isn't Higher Park Farm, it is the next road along, the road with the yellow bollards at the top. Think it's called Hookstone Lane. Morning feed is not a problem, the first person on the yard is expected to feed everyone. Morning turn out, not usually a problem as the ladies who...

    Livery in Pirbright/Worplesdon/Bisley/Brookwood/West End etc

I hope you don't mind, I am going to follow this with interest as I have been looking for the same for months. Fenns was full up when I spoke to them and Halebourne, well I did have my horse there (past tense and wouldn't go back) and my friend lasted only 3 months there before leaving there...

Anyone tow with a Merc ML 350?

Ive got an Ifor 510 (I think) - anyway IW double trailer capable of 2 x 16.2hh but my boy is 16hh and its normally just me, plus all our gear. I have however used it to tow my friends larger IW trailer which was 2 up with her 17.2hh WB and my 16hh TB, through the most horrible of mud last year...
