    Ruth Edge lesson - Report

What a fantastic lesson! Very interesting as well, i think we all can be a bit soft especially when on a very forward going horse. One of my problems is getting my horse to accept the leg (ex Racer) & my instructor keeps on drumming it into me that as a result i almost have to use them more...

Credit Crunch - how is it affecting you?

Disaster for me! I am being made redundant as of Dec 1st. I know of several people that like me were in secure jobs - but guess what? All businesses are starting to feel effects.

    Is there any such thing?

I Brought a set of Oster Power Pro cordless clippers a few years ago as they were the quietest that I could find. They are battery clippers and not full width blades BUT my TB that i had at the time would try and kill me even sedated with any other clippers. With these i could do a full clip...

Best way to get horse clean in winter!

I always hose off legs, wash tail then hot cloth the rest. Use water as hot as you can stand then i add a capfull of dettol as this helps with the grease & scurf. Rub all over regularly re-soaking the cloth, wipe all over with dry towels and rug up with a thermatex or something similar until...

    Thermatex questions

I always buy my Thermatex a size smaller than normal, as they do stretch rather a lot after a couple of uses - brilliant rugs though I wouldn't be without mine. Personally love green on chestnuts, but any colour as long as its not red will look good.

    Incentives for OH's!!!!

He he, this made me chuckle. I have to say that my OH is the most excellent groom & I feel that he gets all of the above incentives although he would probably disagree!!! Also i am definatley much less grumpy when i have had help.

Idea's on riding in the dark

I school my horse every morning in the dark in the field as i do not have a menage, BUT, i would never, ever venture out on to even the quietest of roads if it was dark or dusky - it only takes one idiot and you would not have a hope in hell or a leg to stand on legally.
