    Grazon & composting times?

Hi everyone, I have just sprayed Grazon on my paddock & I'm enjoying watching all the weeds wilt! I have previously stored the muck for a few months until it rots down then spread it on the garden. Will that be enough time for the Grazon to disappear to wherever it goes, or will it kill my...

    House cat plus yard cats?

Thanks so much for your replies. Sounds like it might work then... I was already quite up for it, even before you all shared your lovely photos - I now have no choice but to go ahead :)

    House cat plus yard cats?

Hello everyone. We have a rodent issue in our stables. I have tried various rat traps but the horrid animals are clearly smarter than me and my attempts are not working! We also have lots of owls, badgers etc. living nearby and I worry that if I manage to kill the rats/mice, I might kill them...

Turning part of garden into paddock?

Thanks for the responses everyone. I should have known you'd all say do it! Yes, hear what you're saying about the play equipment. It's to the side, so quite easy to fence that bit off now I come to think of it. I can imagine one of the ponies using it as a scratching post and causing chaos! I...

Turning part of garden into paddock?

Hi all, We have the ponies at home and are a bit short of grazing (understatement!) We have a fairly big garden, which we don’t really use and in the summer I get fed up of mowing the lawn especially when I never seem to have a enough grass for the horses! So, the obvious solution is to use...

Big bale hay for laminitic pony?

Hi everyone, One of my ponies has been on a carefully managed diet since a laminitis attack 2+ years ago. Since then, I have been putting hay in a pretty bare paddock all year as and when to make sure she doesn’t eat too much. I am wondering if it would be doable to leave a big bale in the...

    Plastic quad trailer?

Hi everyone, I need to get a trailer for my quad bike. I had planned to get a metal one but they seem hard to find secondhand in the size I want & the company nearby that makes & sells them is closed for lockdown. I have lots of work I could be doing in the nice weather so would rather get one...

    Endurance GB or Sport Endurance?

Hi all. I am thinking of joining an endurance organisation this year. We did a few events last year but missed some planned rides as I ended up taking kids to other things etc. I think if I sign up to something I will get better at prioritising my own weekends! Just wondering about your...

    Raw food diet for cats?

Ooh, very helpful thank you :) Yes, the cat already likes to help herself to the dogs' food so I'm hoping she'll take to it. And like your's Mrs. B, she is very good at catching her own dinner. Although she's very small so tends to go for mice rather than rabbits - I will tell her she needs to...

    Raw food diet for cats?

HI everyone, We have moved our dogs onto a raw food diet, which has got me questioning why I don’t do the same for our cat. In particular, the vet recently commented that her teeth look quite bad for a cat of her age. This could be because she is older than we were told by the rescue we got...

Quad - which trailer & getting stuck?!

Hi everyone, Very excited about buying a quad before winter sets in! It will mainly be used for taking muck to the heap, taking small bales up to the field & moving fence posts around etc. Just wondering what size trailer people use for this kind of work? Also, any features I need e.g...

    Dealing with a skinny laminitic?!

Thanks for the suggestion Leo. Not come across those before so will have a look at them. HP - she isn't get much grass at night but I put out hay during they day and she's not getting through it all. So I guess you'd say she's got access to food but isn't eating it for whatever reason.

    Dealing with a skinny laminitic?!

Thanks for that. Good questions! I would say she's a 4 on the condition score - you can see her ribs but her tailbone and spine aren't protruding - if that makes sense! She had tests done around Christmas when the laminitis was diagnosed as the vet said the same as you but they didn't find...

    Dealing with a skinny laminitic?!

Hi all. As per title, my laminitic mare (7 y.o) is currently very skinny and I’m not sure what to do with her. Over the winter, I had to really control her hay consumption to stop her putting weight on. However, now it’s summer, she’s too thin! She has a nice muscle tone at the back end...
