I find they rear if people hang on to the inside rein too much! It's amazing how that is often the cause!& if she is head snatching / tossing a lot and not willing to go forwards enough, then this suggests that too much hand is the problem
He's come on so well- it only seems like yesterday he was doing tiny courses, now he's sailing round these massive tracks!!
I think it's amazing how you've found the right pony for him at the right time, to keep him moving on and progressing .. That's a really clever way to bring a child on quickly!
Your best bet for a commercial foal is to look at some of the big popular Irish event sires- like OBOS quality and Ramiro B . Actually ramiro stands in the UK now & he has a ton of bone& substance& his eventing stock are superb. Other options would be Ars Vivendi and VDL Douglas. All of these...
Is he only just starting the methocarbonal treatment? I would definately give that the 5 days to see what effects it has.
& sounds corny but would an Arc Equine machine help? Could someone lend you one?
What about a decent osteopath ? My Osteo does plenty of work on relieving jaws & making the...
I def recommend regumate- most competition mares are impossible without it & there is just no question whatsoever of riding or competing them unless they're on the regumate- even has to be a double/ triple dose for the bad mares.
I think horses that love their jumping this much& are so bold are often too strong to hold in a snaffle- definately try other bits, I love the Tom Thumb for thoroughbreds as it gives neater control without being harsh/ bulky for them
Not sure the de nerving is correct at all as it's only excess bone that is removed- perhaps a vet could clarify this?
Re horses that have been successful at top level, there are many examples, but it's not made public knowledge- one example would be Chase the Melody - an advanced event horse...
There is absolutely no de- nerving in KS op's and they've been doing this operation for as long as colic surgery has been around. There are many success stories of horses returning to a high level of competition and doing well, just as equally as there are many bad stories.
Poor concentration and spooking can simply be caused by the horse not being connected properly between leg and hand& not truely in front of the leg. Therefore I would see what he can do with another rider .
Trying to get the attention of staff while they are busy chatting or having to shout and wave for their attention at the back of a busy crowd is another bugbear of mine! If staff could quickly assess what photos customers want, print them off quickly& then quickly look for the next customer...
I have an Equipe Emporio dressage saddle it is a 17inch medium plus 1, the saddler added little shims where each shoulder panel lies to make the front of the saddle sit up better as it was tipping ( I got it second hand) I'm in Wiltshire.. Know it doesn't tick a few boxes for you but you'd be...
I think when they are highly strung like that & silly/stupid it is because they are in pain , have you had all the checks done? Could be fundamental pain in the body or pain from the way he is being ridden, I bet he doesn't carry himself well and is tight and tense in his way of going under saddle?
When practising over these, Don't ever look down or lean forwards, sit up really tall, as soon as you're slightly forwards you will have lost him & obviously use lots & lots of leg!
