Is there a major difference other than the weight and thickness? Hoping to matt the whole stable, someone said get the 17mm as they are less likely to move about and lift but if the 12mm ones are fitted properly then surely they won't move? Just cautious as I get awful back problems that flare...
Just wondering what you would expect to pay. Enquiry for bringing in 2 horses 5x a week, yard about 10 mins away. Owner literally just wants them brought in, no rug change etc as they'll come up later. It will be during my busiest time of the day. No idea what I should charge. Any suggestions...
Seems that this year my horse is being bitten like crazy! Whatever fly rug I put on, spray or gel it's just doing nothing.
A couple of people have suggested feeding brewers yeast? Any one do this? And does it make a difference? Thanks
Can I just say, horses cannot be anorexic. Anorexia ia a mental illness, a fear of losing control and using weight as a way to feel in control. A horse does not have the capacity to think like this. I don't mean to be rude but I find your choice of words offensive. As someone who has personally...
Other day at work I got talking about what we were doing later that day. So I of course said "I'll be going to yard to see my horse and feed her etc". She said "do you have to go everyday?! Even when you work?"
Honesty couldn't believe that I was being asked this...she then said "even at...

So today my mare had her booster vaccinations. I've owned her for 3.5 years and believe her to be now 7 (according to passport). However vet did a general check over and had a look at her teeth and said "she is such a baby still". I was very confused and asked her how old she thinks and she said...
Mare currently out 24/7 but looking for what bedding would be best when I bring her in over winter months.
I have had her in straw past 2 winters and loved it. Make nice deep bed and helps to dry her feathera. So cheap and easy to muck out however she will eat it and I worry she may get...
Just wanted to know if anyone feeds pony nuts alongside chaff? I've got a good doer and currently buy a broad vitamin and mineral feed but wondered whether pony nuts would contain the same nutrients she needs at a fraction of the price?
What lovely photos! Cob's are just the best, cannot best their cuddles! Those feathers are incredibly white!! Think I need some tips from you for my mare!
Best of luck with your goals!
I noticed my cob has a number of scabs under her feathers, there's lots of flaky skin in the hair, looks like what you would expect for feather mites. However I have never seen her itching, stamping her feet or any of the common signs. What is the best treatment for them and can they gett them...
Yard first, I had loaned their horse before so knew the yard routine and everything etc. Yard owner had only myself and another livery so was very much on a friend basis. She didn't want another livery but let me have the stable and kept it free for me whilst i was looking for a horse as she...
My cob's tail is ridiculously heavy and thick. Please don't suggest thinning it!! Haha.
Any ideas how I can keep it nice and knot free...also poo free!! Are tail bags any good? What do you all use or do? Thanks!
In need of some boots that I can wear all day for mucking out and dog walking etc. Ideally not long boots as I already have a pair which I wear when it gets really cold. Let me know what you use!
