I can't remember who on here sent their horse to the equine blood bank, I'm sure I read about it in a thread recently but it escapes my mind who it was now? Does anyone know or can the person who it was PM me please.
Hmmm, I didn't find the BBC clip pleasant viewing. But as others have said we aren't LC and we weren't riding KS last night so it isn't fair to judge. I do however think it perhaps would have been better to retire him and say he wasn't happy with the atmosphere. Although doing that would have...
Elvis spends more time horizontal than he does vertical! He's often lying down in his field or stable and doesn't feel the need to get up when people potter around him. On occasions he's been standing up while I've been sorting his stable and then decided to lie down and watch me instead. In the...
I'd also move him now. If he's already stressed it can't get much worse.
The fact that you said other horses seem to stress too gives me the impression that there is something on that yard which is making them all unhappy. We, as humans, may never know or understand what our horses sense or...
I've done that with my horse- he's now a very confident, straight forward BE100/Novice horse. I can recommend you a fantastic pro who doesn't charge extra for competing etc but they are based in Surrey.
This photo was taken two years ago when Elvis was receiving steroids to help treat a virus so I had to be careful that the chickens didn't eat too much of his feed!
I just couldn't get the micklem sizing to work for my horse, the standard horse fitted him length ways and the nose band sat in the right place but the cheek strap was far too small, I couldn't even fasten it. So I ordered the large horse size and again really struggled to do up the cheek strap...
They say bad luck comes in three's so hopefully that's your lot now. On a more serious note I hope you're okay, life can be awful when it comes to timing. I've got my fingers crossed your ponys lameness is nothing serious with a quick recovery time- like an abscess.
I've done that one before, pony landed after fence and went one way while I went the other, I fell off in exactly the same way twice, luckily by the third attempt I'd learnt my lesson and actually steered the pony on landing.
Today I had one of those falls where you think 'why the blooming heck did I do that?'
Jumping a grid of three fences all with a long one stride distance, between the second and third fences I apparently lost any inclination to kick and then leaned forward?!? Horse ended up popping in an...
Hijack away! :) I think quite a few horses struggle during winter. My horse is still in a decent amount of work and although he's still fine to ride he's definitely lost a bit of sparkle.
