Plaiting Manes-how tight is too tight?

Hi all, I’ve been sewing my ponies plaits for about 6 months now, we compete roughly every 2 weeks! When plaiting how tightly do you plait?? I’m worried they are uncomfortable to have in for him, especially if we travel for just under an hour sometimes! I take them out straight after the test...

    Travel options.....help please

When looking for our trailer we found that the two horse ifor williams are cheaper than the one horse!! The older versions seem more sturdy (personally), so our 505 is perfect!!

    Elementary 53-leg yield help!!

Hi everyone, I’ve dropped myself in it by entering Ele 53 next Sunday! Looking through the test we can do all but the leg yields!!! I can leg yield my pony both ways but the angle is quite steep in this test! It goes from L to R/S (one to the right one to the left). Running through it this...

    Calmers?

Can anybody recommend some calmers pls? What do u use/worth the money pls? Just to take the edge off when competing as my pony can get quite tense. Had all tack/back etc checked and he has physio regularly so definitely not in pain, just can get quite overwhelmed.

    Bit for jumping strong pony

As i said, it’s not safe. If i circle he will buck out of excitement. I’m not talking about using something really strong, I just want some control until it’s safe for us. Pls no suggestions about “just doing poles first” as this is what I’ve already started with. i need something to get his...

    Free walk in tests

Keeping your hands a bit wider and lower can help to remind him of what you’re asking. I’d say make sure the walk is nicely forward but not rushing-make sure you can count a steady 1,2,3,4 rhythm. Some horses naturally stretch down and others aren’t so keen, but with mine I try and offer the...

    Bit for jumping strong pony

That’s what I would have thought, but even poles are too exciting at the mo. I need to be safe when doing them, it’s not because I’m going to be jumping huge heights! He is very balanced and successfully competes up to medium level, but I can’t have him launching me over four basic trot poles...

    Bit for jumping strong pony

Hi! I’m going to be starting more jumping with my dressage pony as our new years resolution! This is v exciting to him, and he can get really strong and tense before the jump! As a dressage rider I want his head and neck lower, but I’ve been told by my jumping instructor he needs to be...

    Elementary 43 help!

Thanks to both of you! It is unaff. and he isn't so sensitive that I can't half halt thankfully! Will defiantly try the pole exercise-sounds like something to stretch him and make him think!

Abrupt Halt at the end of a test-solutions?

After ending so many of our tests with a halt that nearly sends me over his head, I thought I'd try here to see if anybody has any solutions for stepping progressively into a nice square halt. He is very sensitive to any rein contact and can be abrupt to walk, it's almost a 'think it'...
