A good place to look for DIY materials such as membrane is Jackson Arenas, but there are many others on the web.

I wouldn't use Jackson Arenas, they built mine and i'm having to get Martin Collins in to rebuild it for me!!!! I'm also going for their sand and Clopf...
you should have gone to the arena event at Addington last Sunday. They had a great presentation from Martin Collins - 1 bloke and 3 women - who talked about construction and surfaces. Just digging out my notes and info pack..... Right. My "shorthand" is quite bad, so you should call them to...
we went to the Martin Collins event at Addington yesterday (which was very interesting) - they had samples of different sands - all were silica but some were very coarse. Apparently you need a fine sand with an angular grain - they had a couple of really nice ones there, and we are buying one...
i think generally you get what you pay for. My nana always said "buy cheap, buy twice" - certainly that's the case with my arena. I'm going for sand with clopf fibre from Martin Collins - cheaper than sand and rubber and a far better surface (they gave me loads of reference sites to go to)...

For what it's worth not all woodchips are the same. Some are not guarranteed metal free which can be a disaster, and they biodegrade at different rates which can be a lot more costly. In my experience Ransfords last a good long time before it needs topping up (3 years we found with our...
Looking at the list of "prizes" it looks like all the people at the event..... so i guess you will have to wait for the schoolmaster lesson competition!!!
Please, please, make sure though that if you do take baby to the stables while you muck out that you ensure you thoroughly wash your hands before handling baby! My friend's baby was taken very ill because she (mummy) had dirty hands and baby picked up germs from her (putting it very simply as i...
My god, what a great prize in H&H this week! Win a lesson with Ben Maher and Mark Phillips! Anyone else going to enter? Anyone else going to see them at Addington next Sunday for this "everything you want to know about arenas" day?

Hmm yes, whats the saying.. you make your bed... you lie in it!! LOL!!
But remember... there are always 2 sides to every story....
I am sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle!!
We've seen both sides and they will both have been slightly one sided. But I think they all need to...
i'm not into driving (though if i don't shed the baby pounds i might soon be!!), but know what a yoke is from ye olden days of using oxen to plough the fields - the yoke was the wooden bit that went between 2 oxen to pull the plough, etc. milk maids also used a yoke to carry two pails of...
CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! i would always vet, don't believe what the seller tells you - she is just trying to get shot of the horse! It would be an expensive mistake if there is something seriously wrong and you bought "sold as seen".
i was paying £45 per week until i managed to rent a run-down stable/arena for £125/month! mind you, when i say run-down, i really do mean it!!!!! (think owner is hoping i will do it up so it will be worth more to him!!)
yes, you can get a spray on waterproofer.... if your local tack shop doesn't have any, try your local rambling shop (www.cotswoldoutdoor.com for example) my waterproofs come up a treat after washing and re-spraying.
